Job summary

Newsandtribune is seeking a Certified Surgical Technologist proficient across multiple specialties for an operating room position at a busy hospital.

The CST will support surgeries across total joint/trauma, neuro spine, vascular, and robotics; 8-hour shifts from 10:30 AM to 7:00 PM, 40 hours per week. Magnet-designated hospital with emphasis on aseptic technique and patient safety.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Minimum 2 years of experience in the specialty, 3 years preferred for OR.
• Recent experience within the last 3 months in the submitted specialty required.
• Surgery Technician certification preferred; license required if applicable.
• BLS certification from an approved vendor required.
• CNA certification preferred.
• Associate's or technical degree, or equivalent combination of education and experience, preferred.
• Scrub technician and/or operating room training or experience preferred.
• Cerner and/or Epic experience must be documented if applicable.

Responsibilities

• Surgery unit within a hospital operating room setting
• CST proficient in all specialties including total joint/trauma, neuro spine, vascular, and robotics
• 8-hour shifts from 10:30 AM to 7:00 PM, 40 hours per week
• Prepare and maintain sterile field, retracting and passing instruments, supplies, and medications during surgical cases
• Check and assemble required supplies and equipment prior to each case
• Set up operative instrumentation for expedient use and maintain neat, orderly sterile fields with careful attention to aseptic technique
• Complete instrument, sponge, needle, and blade counts with the RN according to established standards
• Clean equipment and facilities and perform housekeeping duties as needed
• Transport patients according to unit schedules and priorities
• Perform clerical duties and other job-related tasks as assigned
• Magnet-designated hospital committed to nurse development and empowerment
• Required vaccinations are a condition of employment, with medical and religious exemptions considered
• Candidates with more than 5 days of requested time off will not be considered
• Candidates with a prior adverse licensure action will not be considered
• Local candidates accepted with no radius restriction, as local rates match travel rates
