Job summary

American Traveler is seeking a Certified Surgical Technologist for a CVOR role in an acute care setting in Wisconsin. Requires at least 2 years of surgical tech experience, BLS, and CST NBSTSA certification. Must scrub CVOR and non-CVOR for C-sections as needed.

Position involves 10-hour day shifts (0700-1730), variable on-call duties (10-15 days/month), and 30-minute call response. Cerner EMR currently used with Epic transition planned; housing and licensure reimbursements offered.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of surgical technologist experience required.
• BLS certification (AHA) required.
• Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) credential via NBSTSA required.
• Must be able to scrub outside of CVOR specifically for C-sections.
• License required if applicable.

Responsibilities

• Support cardiovascular surgical procedures including CABG, valve repairs, TAVR, and thoracic surgeries.
• Work in the CVOR suite with a lead and house supervisor.
• Manage case volume and staffing across 1 main CV OR + 1 backup suite.
• Use Cerner EMR and transition toward Epic.
• Adhere to clock-in/out protocols and call schedules.
• Provide care within 10-hour day shifts and respond to call within set times.

Requirements

Responsibilities

• Acute care hospital setting within the CVOR (Cardiovascular Operating Room)
• Single main CV OR suite plus 1 backup suite
• Common cases include CABG, valves, TAVR, VATS/thoracotomy, robotic lung procedures, and aneurysm repairs
• Case volume averages less than 1 per day, with variation week to week
• Uses Cerner EMR, with transition to Epic in progress
• Primarily 10-hour day shifts (0700-1730), no block schedules
• Self-scheduling call in a team of 3
• Call requirements vary based on staffing, ranging from 10 to 15 days per month
• 1 long call per week (Monday-Thursday) plus 1 assigned weekend approximately every 5 weeks (Friday after shift through Monday 7am)
• Holiday call rotated within the team of 3
• 30-minute call response time required
• Floating limited to main OR or Outpatient Surgery Center only
• Support cardiovascular surgical procedures including CABG, valve repairs, TAVR, and thoracic surgeries
• Work alongside a team lead and house supervisor for clinical support
• Unit-specific orientation of up to 1 week provided
• Scrubs are provided by the facility
• All clinicians must clock in and out at the facility
• Local candidates within 80 miles of the facility are accepted at a reduced rate
• Former Marshfield employees must have an end date at least 6 months prior to submission
