Job summary

American Traveler seeks a Surgical Technologist for a 13-week acute care OR assignment in California. Requires 2+ years of experience and strong skills in total joints, general, vascular, and spine procedures. BLS and COVID vaccine are required; licensure as applicable and a copy of driver’s license may be requested.

Cerner Surginet EMR is used on the unit. Shifts are 12 hours (0630-1900 or 1000-2230) with on-call coverage for weekends and holidays; a floor-specific orientation with a preceptor

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of experience as a Surgical Technologist.
• BLS certification required.
• COVID vaccine required.
• Strong experience with total joints, general, vascular, and spine cases.
• License required if applicable.
• Copy of driver's license may be requested.

Responsibilities

• Level 2 trauma acute care hospital OR unit.
• 1:1 patient ratios.
• Handles all case types including CVOR and main OR cases.
• Uses Cerner Surginet EMR.
• 12-hour day/mid shifts with some 8s and 10s available.
• On-call coverage for weekends and holidays; approx 1–2 weeknights per week and 1 weekend per month.
• Orientation with a preceptor.
• Scrubs provided by the facility.
• Report to Clinical Supervisor with support from OR Director and OR Manager.
• OR Techs present on unit; 24/7 RT and Pharmacy available.

Job description

American Traveler seeks a Surgical Technologist for a 13-week acute care OR assignment requiring 2+ years of experience and strong skills in total joints, general, vascular, and spine procedures.

Requirements

• Minimum 2 years of experience as a Surgical Technologist
• BLS certification required
• COVID vaccine required
• Strong experience with total joints, general, vascular, and spine cases required
• License required if applicable
• Copy of driver's license required for consideration

Responsibilities

• Level 2 trauma acute care hospital OR unit
• 1:1 patient ratios
• Handles all case types except transplant, including CVOR cases (CABG, valve, pacers, lead extractions, lung) and Main OR cases (ortho, general/vascular, neuro/spine, ENT, trauma)
• Uses Cerner Surginet EMR
• 12-hour day/mid shifts (0630-1900 or 1000-2230), with some 8s and 10s available
• On-call coverage required for weekends and holidays, approximately 1-2 weeknights per week and 1 weekend per month (Friday end of shift through Monday 6:30am)
• One shift of floor-specific orientation with a preceptor
• Scrubs provided by the facility
• Report to the Clinical Supervisor, with additional support from an OR Director and OR Manager
• OR Techs are present on the unit
• Respiratory Therapy and Pharmacy available 24/7
• First-time travelers may be considered
• Candidates previously employed directly (full-time, part-time, or PRN) by any facility within this health system within the past year are not eligible; PRN employment through outside firms is acceptable
