Job summary

American Traveler seeks a Surgical Technologist with strong trauma and multi-specialty experience for a Level II Trauma Center surgery unit. Must have at least 2 years of trauma-related OR experience; robotics experience with Mazor or DaVinci XI is preferred.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Level II Trauma Center surgical unit supporting multiple specialties.
• 1:1 patient care, sterile technique, and equipment handling.
• Work with Cerner EMR, Spacelabs monitors, and OR automation systems.
• On-call rotations; 12-hour day shifts starting at 6:30 am; 36 hours per week.

Job description

American Traveler seeks a Surgical Technologist with strong trauma and multi-specialty surgical experience for a Level II Trauma Center surgery unit.

Requirements

• Strong experience required in Trauma (excluding burns), Neuro, General, Vascular, ENT, Ortho spine, Gyn, Urology, and Plastics
• Robotics experience for both General and Neuro cases required; strong experience with Mazor or DaVinci XI robotic systems preferred
• Vascular Tech candidates must be competent in AAA, carotids, AVG, AVF, Fem-Fem bypass, and aorta bi-fem procedures, with endovascular experience preferred
• CVOR experience needed only if supporting Open Heart cases
• Certification preferred but not required
• License required if applicable
• Minimum of 2 years of experience required for first-time travelers; candidates with only 1 year of experience will not be accepted

Responsibilities

• Level II Trauma Center with Level III NICU and Primary Stroke Center designation
• General/Trauma surgical unit that also backs up Ortho, Neuro, and ENT services
• Minimal pediatric patient population, typically Ortho cases
• 1:1 patient ratio
• 12-hour day shifts beginning at 6:30 am, Wednesday through Friday plus call
• 36 standard hours per week
• Uses Cerner EMR, Plum 360 IV pumps, Omnicell medication dispensing, and Spacelabs monitors
• No floating required
• On-call rotation required for all service lines except Open Heart, typically one day per week from 3p-7a and one weekend per month Friday 3p through Monday 7a
• Expected to work one holiday per contract
• Support staff on the unit includes ORA, desk assistant, FA's, charge nurse, and team leaders for service lines
• Orientation consists of 2 weeks on day shift, with buddy call expected during orientation
• Green scrubs are provided
• Parking available in a deck
• Does not accept local candidates within a 60-mile radius of the facility
• Former perm staff must wait 6 months before being considered for a travel assignment
