American Traveler seeks a Surgical Technologist for a Level III Trauma Center OR requiring 2 years of general surgery experience with vascular case capability.

Requirements

• Minimum 2 years of core surgical technologist experience required, with most recent experience within the last year
• BLS certification required
• Active license required if applicable
• EPIC EMR experience required
• Ability to perform vascular procedures required
• Candidate's middle name or initial, DOB, and last 4 of SSN required for consideration
• Minimum 1 professional reference dated within the last year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN

Responsibilities

• Surgery Room unit within a Level III Trauma Center, Level III NICU, and Primary Stroke Center with Magnet designation
• 21-bed OR with 1:1 patient ratio
• Primarily general surgery cases including breast/plastics, vascular, laparoscopic, general oncology, GU, and GYN, with ability to perform all case types including vascular
• Robotic surgery (Xi) exposure but agency staff not typically trained unless strong background and longer contract commitment
• 8-hour day shift with variable start times between 0530-0700
• No weekend rotation for day shift
• Floats within Main OR specialties and Urology center, no floating to other hospitals/sites
• On-call required with 30-minute response time on an 8-week rotating schedule
• Call includes EOS shifts, 2230-0700 slots, and 1-2 weekend call assignments per 8-week period
• Uses EPIC EMR, Alaris, and Pyxis systems
• Support on unit includes Charge Nurse, Team Leads, Supervisors, and Manager
• Not recommended for first-time travelers; further approval and evaluation from hiring supervisor required if considered
• Former employees of Advocate Health or its subsidiaries must be separated for at least 12 months before eligible for travel assignment
• Local candidates accepted at the same rate with no radius rules
• Orientation runs 1-1.5 weeks depending on team and shift assignment
• Surgical scrubs provided by hospital; scrub caps allowed but must be covered by a surgical bouffant
• Free parking available with shuttle service to and from parking structure
• Starbucks and cafeteria available on campus
• No call rooms available on site
• Holiday weeks allow working four 10-hour shifts to achieve full hours, or taking the holiday unpaid
• Clinical interview required with manager review of any offers
• Skills checklist must match acuity/modality applied for and be completed within the last year
