Job summary

American Traveler seeks a CVOR Surgical Technologist with 7 years of experience and CST certification for a 26-week hospital contract supporting complex cardiothoracic cases.

In this role you will operate in a 15‑OR facility, serve as primary scrub or assistant, prepare sterile setup, pass instruments, and assist in various cardiothoracic procedures while maintaining sterile technique and collaborating with the team.

Qualifications

• Minimum 7 years of experience as a Surgical Technologist.
• BLS and CST certifications required.
• License required if applicable.
• Technical Diploma from an accredited Surgical Technologist program or comparable military training required.

Responsibilities

• Hospital surgical services department with 15 OR suites including hybrid and cardiothoracic rooms, plus PACU, sterile supply, and support areas.
• Day shift schedule, 0600-1430 Monday through Friday.
• Call required every other night and every other weekend.
• 26-week contract assignment.
• Must be willing to assist in other specialties as needed.
• Handles complex cardiothoracic and structural heart cases including CABG, valve repair/replacement, AVR, TAVR, TEER/MitraClip, Watchman procedures, aortic repairs, Maze procedures, left atrial appendage closure, thoracotomies, VATS, lung resections, lobectomy, mediastinal procedures, and robotic CABG/thoracotomy.
• Serve as primary scrub person or assistant during operative procedures.
• Prepare and set up sterile instruments and supplies prior to cases and maintain the sterile field throughout.
• Pass instruments, assist the physician, and perform instrument, sponge, and sharps counts during cases.
• May assist with cutting suture material or applying electrocautery under direct surgeon supervision.
• Collaborate with the circulating nurse on patient positioning, draping, and interventions.
• Perform post-case cleanup including gross decontamination of instruments and proper transport to Central Sterile Processing.
• Ensure OR suite is disinfected, restocked, and ready for the next case.
• Complete mandatory hospital education and maintain compliance with HR and Employee Health requirements.
• Accepts local candidates at a lower rate within a 75-mile radius.
• First‑time travelers may be considered.
