Job summary

American Traveler is seeking a Cardiovascular OR Surgical Technologist for a hospital in New York, requiring NBSTSA/NCCT certification and at least 2 years of CVOR experience. The role involves working in a 23-OR hospital, supporting CVOR, vascular, thoracic, and general surgery.

The position features 3x12-hour days, on-call rotations, travel-ready requirements, and a comprehensive benefits package. Candidates with robotics experience (Da Vinci Xi) and EPIC proficiency are preferred; NY license

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years CVOR experience.
• NBSTSA or NCCT certification required.
• EPIC charting experience required.
• BLS certification preferred.
• NY state license required if applicable.
• Prior travel experience required.
• Experience with CABG, TAVR, VAD, AAA repair, carotid endarterectomy, and EVAR.
• Robotics experience with Da Vinci Xi preferred.
• Proficient in aseptic technique and instrument processing.
• NY state license required if applicable.

Responsibilities

• Hospital setting with 23 operating rooms and 1 procedure room.
• CVOR unit supporting elective and emergency surgeries for adult and pediatric patients.
• Variety of service-specific specialties including cardiovascular, vascular, thoracic, and general surgery.
• Day shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM.
• On-call requirement of 1 call shift per week and 1 full weekend per month.
• Floating required.
• EPIC charting experience required.
• Perform surgical technologist duties supporting cardiovascular, vascular, thoracic, and general surgery cases.
• Work within a hybrid OR environment equipped for trauma and emergency cases.
• Handle equipment such as cell savers, electrosurgical units, and fiber optic light sources.
• Maintain sterile fields and perform instrument and sponge counts.
• Participate in universal protocol (time out) procedures.
• First-time travelers considered if they have 2-3 years of experience in a busy CVOR.
• Local candidates not accepted within 75-mile radius of the facility.
• Returning staff must wait 6 months system-wide before reapplying.
• Maximum of 10 days RTO permitted for consideration.
