Job summary

American Traveler is hiring a Step Down RN with at least 2 years of telemetry experience and stepdown ICU/TCU/PCU background for a teaching hospital in California.

Active CA RN license, BSN and BLS are required, with ACLS/PCCN preferred. Travel nursing experience and UC medical facility familiarity are valued. Shifts include 3x12s days or nights, with system-wide floating within 75 miles.

Qualifications

• Active CA RN license required at time of consideration.
• BSN required.
• AHA BLS required; ACLS and PCCN preferred.
• Minimum 2 years of telemetry experience required, with stepdown ICU/TCU/PCU experience preferred.
• CIWA and EKG/Cardiac Rhythm Recognition course experience required.
• Tracheostomy care expertise required.
• Prior travel nursing experience required.
• Teaching hospital experience required and must be noted in employment history.
• 2 professional references from most recent employer required for consideration.

Responsibilities

• Work in the Step Down unit of a teaching hospital medical center.
• Day (3x12, 7:00-19:30) and Night (3x12, 19:00-7:30) variable shift options available.
• Requires ability to float to other facilities within the health system and units within a 75+ mile radius.
• Epic charting system used.
• Care for stepdown/PCU/DOU/IMC patients requiring telemetry and cardiac monitoring.
• Skills include arterial line management, central and peripheral line care, chest tube management, BiPAP/CPAP management, IV insulin protocols, and wound care.
• Responsible for interpretation and management of dysrhythmias and use of rapid response/code teams.
• Local candidates accepted at the same rate as travel candidates.
• Any prior employment with University of California medical facilities or their acquired facilities must be disclosed with full employment history for rehire eligibility review.
• All requested time off must be submitted and approved at time of offer; no additional RTO requests accepted mid-contract, and RTO cannot fall within the first two weeks of the assignment.
