Job summary

American Traveler is seeking a Step Down RN for a day-shift telemetry role in Indiana. The ideal candidate will interpret cardiac rhythms and manage drip titration on a 7th-floor step-down unit.

Requirements include IN or compact RN license, ACLS/BLS/NIHSS certifications, 1–2 years of telemetry and cardiac care, and Nursys background check. Cerner experience is a plus and travel housing is offered.

Qualifications

• Active IN or compact RN license required prior to start date.
• Certifications ACLS, BLS, NIHSS are required.
• Minimum 1 year of experience; 2 years preferred.
• Telemetry and cardiac/stroke experience required.
• Cardiac drip experience with titration.
• Must pass telemetry rhythm identification quiz.
• Cerner charting experience preferred.
• Nursys background review required.

Responsibilities

• Step Down unit MS-7th Floor; Day shift 0700–1930, 3x12 hours.
• Patient ratio 1:4; floating based on census and staffing needs.
• Care for cardiac, stroke, and renal patients on hemodialysis (via outside company).
• Manage cardiac drips (Heparin, Cardizem, Amiodarone, Lasix).
• Interpret ECGs and cardiac rhythms; respond to emergencies.
• Perform EKG testing and cardiac monitoring.

• Telemetry and cardiac/stroke experience required
• Cardiac drip experience required, including some titration experience
• Must pass a telemetry rhythm identification quiz

Responsibilities

• MS-7th Floor Intermediate/Step Down unit
• Day shift, 3x12 hours (0700-1930)
• Every other weekend required
• Patient ratio of 1:4
• Floating required based on facility census and staffing needs
• Cares for cardiac, stroke, and renal patients receiving hemodialysis (performed by outside company)
• Manages a variety of cardiac drips including Heparin, Cardizem, Amiodarone, and Lasix
• Uses all modes of oxygenation other than ventilators
• Interprets and manages cardiac dysrhythmias and responds to emergencies
• Performs EKG testing and cardiac monitoring
• Must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible for consideration
• Former employees must be separated from the facility for at least three years before returning as a traveler
• First-time travelers will be considered
• Maximum of 10 days RTO permitted
• Candidates requesting holiday RTO must be willing to work one of the three major holidays
• Required modules must be completed within the first week of the assignment
