Job summary
American Traveler is seeking a Registered Nurse for a Stepdown role in Missouri, requiring Med-Surg/Stepdown experience and Epic charting proficiency.
You will work a day shift pattern (3x12s or 4x12s) with 0700-1930 coverage, serving Med-Surg/Stepdown patients in a Level II facility. Travel compensation includes housing and meals, with a 13-week assignment.
Qualifications
- Active RN license in MO State or Compact, in hand prior to start.
- Minimum 2 years of nursing experience required.
- BLS, ACLS, CPI, NIHSS certifications.
- BSN preferred.
- Epic charting experience preferred.
- Med-Surg/Stepdown experience preferred.
Responsibilities
- Care for Med-Surg/Stepdown patients; patient ratio 1:5.
- Day shift schedule: 3x12s or 4x12s, 0700-1930.
- Use Epic EMR for charting and documentation.

- Med-Surg unit with Stepdown patient population
- Patient ratio of 1:5
- Day shift schedule, 3x12s or 4x12s, 0700-1930
- Epic EMR used
- Active RN license (MO State or Compact) required, pending license accepted if active and in hand prior to start
- Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, CPI, NIHSS
- Minimum 2 years of nursing experience required
- BSN preferred
- Epic charting experience preferred
- Skills in IV therapy, phlebotomy, central/peripheral line care, and PICC line management
- Experience with blood product administration and port access preferred
- Experience with CVA, pre/post neurosurgery, and spinal cord injury patients preferred
- Wound care/wound vac and feeding tube management skills preferred
- Experience with IV insulin protocols and PCA preferred
- Telemetry monitoring experience (on-unit and remote) preferred
- Experience with ortho trauma, total joint replacement, and surgical drains preferred
- Level II Trauma Center and Level II Stroke Center providing tertiary care
- Facility offers a wide range of hospital and clinic-based services
- Local candidates accepted at a reduced rate
- Must reside at least 50 miles from the facility to qualify for travel rate
- Previous employees must be separated from the facility for at least 1 year before returning as a traveler
- Free parking available
