• Cares for over 4000 cardiology patients annually with procedures like PTCA, stents, TAVR, MitraClip, and pacemakers.
• Night shift 7:00 PM–7:00 AM with occasional on-call and every other weekend.
• Float to similar units as needed and provide direct patient care within an interdisciplinary team.

American Traveler is hiring a Stepdown RN for a night shift Progressive Care/CVU role requiring MI licensure and cardiac/stepdown experience.

Requirements

• Active MI RN license required (compact license not accepted)
• Current BLS and ACLS certification required
• Minimum 1 year of Stepdown experience required
• Proficiency in cardiac care required
• EKG comfortability required
• Skills checklist completed within one year of application required
• MI license verification (LARA and Nursys) required

Responsibilities

• 28-bed Medical Surgical/Stepdown unit caring for general and vascular surgery, bariatric, plastic surgery, trauma, and stroke patients
• Cardiovascular Unit cares for over 4000 cardiology patients annually including PTCA, stents, TAVR, MitraClip, and bi-ventricular pacemaker procedures
• Also cares for open heart surgery patients 18-24 hours post‑op, congestive heart failure, and electrophysiology study patients
• Night shift schedule, 7:00 PM-7:00 AM
• Requires working every other weekend
• Possible on‑call requirements
• Float to similar units required
• Provide direct patient care as a critical member of the Cardiovascular Unit team using clinical judgment to assess and treat patient conditions
• Work within an interdisciplinary care team using clinical pathways and patient education to guide care
• Unit has an active Shared Governance council promoting teamwork and a positive work environment
• New team members receive orientation support as they grow in their nursing practice
• Unit has received a Silver Beacon Award and facility recognized as a Top 50 Heart Hospital in the U.S.
• Strict attendance policy in effect: absence or tardiness of more than 20 minutes on 3 occasions results in immediate termination, with exceptions reviewed for documented communicable disease or hospitalization
• Local candidates within a 35 mile radius are considered local travelers with adjusted pay rate
• Prior full-time McLaren employees are not eligible for contract hire within six months of their employment end date
• No more than 5 days of requested time off (RTO) permitted during the assignment
