Job summary

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Stepdown unit in Morgantown, WV. The role requires strong MedSurg Stepdown experience and drip-titration skills on night shifts within an acute care hospital setting.

Responsibilities include 32 beds with 1:3 to 1:4 patient ratios, post-surgical Thoracic and Medicine cases, and EPIC EMR usage. Travel experience is valued, with housing allowances and comprehensive benefits offered.

Qualifications

• Active RN license WV or Compact.
• BLS and ACLS certifications required.
• Minimum 2 years of MedSurg Stepdown experience.
• Must be able to titrate drips per MD orders.
• Interpret and chart telemetry rhythms with assessments.
• Unexpired driver's license copy required.
• BSN not required.

Responsibilities

• 12-hour night shifts.

• Unit orientation provided; telemetry monitoring and assessments.
• Holiday coverage may be required.
• Travelers may not work within WVU system for longer than one year.

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Stepdown unit position requiring strong MedSurg Stepdown experience and drip titration skills on night shifts.

Requirements

• Active RN license (WV or Compact) required
• BLS and ACLS certifications required
• Minimum 2 years of experience required
• Strong MedSurg Stepdown experience required
• Must be able to titrate drips with specific parameters per MD orders (e.g., Cardizem, Amiodarone, Dopamine, Nitro, Esmolol, Heparin, Lasix)
• Must be able to interpret and chart telemetry rhythms with patient assessments every 4 hours or more frequently with medication titration
• Unexpired driver's license copy required for consideration
• BSN not required

Responsibilities

• 32-bed Stepdown unit in an acute care hospital setting
• Patient ratios of 1:3 for Stepdown assignments or 1:4 for combo assignments (2 Stepdown and 2 floor, or 3 Stepdown and 1 floor patients)
• Primarily post-surgical Thoracic and Medicine patients
• 12-hour night shifts
• Weekend requirement of 3 shifts in a 4-week schedule (Sat, Sun, Sat)
• No call or standby requirement
• Floating is very rare
• Uses EPIC EMR
• 3 shifts of unit-specific orientation provided
• No vents on unit, but BiPap and tracheostomy care provided
• Centralized telemetry monitoring with in-room and nurses station monitors
• Charge Nurse and House Supervisor support available on all shifts
• 3-4 CNAs per shift
• Responsible for interpreting and charting patient telemetry rhythms alongside routine assessments
• Must reside outside a 50-mile radius from the facility
• Holiday coverage required if needed
• Royal Blue scrub color required
• Previous perm employees must wait 2 years before reapplying
• Previous travelers who completed a full year at this health system must wait 2 years before returning
• Travelers may not work within the WVU system for longer than one cumulative year without taking a 2-year break
• Candidates can only be submitted to one WVU facility at a time
• COVID vaccination required, with medical or religious exemption requests subject to committee approval
