American Traveler is seeking a Step Down RN for a short-term acute care hospital in Texas. The role requires at least 1 year of Step Down/PCU/IMC nursing experience and an active TX or compact RN license.

You’ll work 3x12 hour night shifts from 19:00 to 07:00 in a Level II Trauma Center, with a 1:4 patient ratio and occasional unit floating. Epic EMR experience is required, with telemetry, cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia management, BiPAP/CPAP, chest tubes, oxygen administration, IV therapy and

Qualifications

• Active TX or compact RN license in hand at time of consideration.
• Minimum 1 year of Step Down/PCU/IMC nursing experience.
• Current certifications: BLS and ACLS; NIHSS preferred.
• Epic EMR experience required.
• Experience with telemetry and cardiac monitoring.
• Skills in respiratory care (BiPAP/CPAP) and airway management.
• IV therapy and central line/PICC care.
• Experience with vasoactive drips and dysrhythmia management.
• Two supervisory references covering 1 year of employment in the last 3 years.

Responsibilities

• Care for Step Down patients in a short-term acute care hospital.
• Work night shift 19:00–07:00, 3x12 hour shifts.
• Maintain 1:4 patient ratio and float between units.
• Participate in scheduling and respect RTO rules.
• Use Epic EMR for charting.

Requirements

• Active TX or compact RN license required in hand at time of consideration
• Minimum 1 year of Step Down/PCU/IMC nursing experience required
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS
• Epic EMR experience required
• Experience with telemetry, cardiac monitoring, and dysrhythmia management
• Skills in respiratory care including BiPAP/CPAP, chest tubes, and oxygen administration
• IV therapy and phlebotomy skills including central line and PICC line management
• Experience with cardiac and vasoactive drip management
• 2 supervisory references covering 1 year of employment within the last 3 years required
• Full SSN and DOB required for consideration

Responsibilities

• Step Down unit in a short term acute care hospital with Level II Trauma Center designation
• Night shift, 3x12 hour shifts from 19:00 to 07:00
• Patient ratio of 1:4
• Floating between units required
• Every other weekend required
• No on-call requirements
• Uses Epic EMR system
• Care for patients requiring telemetry, renal, neurological, and cardiovascular monitoring and management
• Dress code requires solid navy blue scrubs or uniforms for licensed nursing staff
• Must commit to working 3 of the 5 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day)
• All RTO and scheduling requests must be submitted upfront; minimal RTO is accepted
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Former permanent staff must wait at least 3 months before returning as a traveler and cannot reside within 50 miles of the facility
• Local candidates accepted at a lower bill rate
• Must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility to qualify for travel rate
• May be required to float between sister facilities in the area
