Job summary

American Traveler, LLC. is hiring a night-shift RN for a Stepdown Care Unit in Peoria, IL. The role requires ICU/Intermediate experience with trach and vent skills to care for a 3:1 patient ratio in a 21-bed unit.

Responsibilities include monitoring patients on telemetry, titrating Cardene, Cardizem, Amio, and other drips, and using Epic EMR throughout shifts. 12-hour nights, with every other weekend and holiday rotations in a travel-friendly environment.

Qualifications

• Active IL RN license required.
• BLS (AHA) certification required; ACLS recommended.
• Minimum 1 year of experience required.
• ICU/Intermediate (Stepdown) experience with 3:1 or 2:1 nurse-to-patient ratio required.
• Trach and vent experience required.
• Experience titrating cardiac and vasopressor drips required.
• Must be able to pass a drug screen.

Responsibilities

• Acute care Stepdown Care Unit with 21 beds (9 private, rest semi-private).
• Nurse to patient ratio of 3 to 1.
• Treat a mix of medical, neuro, neuro surgical, general/trauma surgical, and trauma patients.
• Care for patients with trach/vent, chest tubes, G tubes, NG tubes, PICC lines, central lines, and arterial lines.
• Titrate drips including Cardene, Cardizem, Amio, Dobutamine, Heparin, and low-dose vasopressors.
• Use Epic EMR; telemetry techs interpret strips with RN confirmation.

Requirements

• BLS (AHA) certification required; ACLS recommended
• Minimum 1 year of experience required
• ICU/Intermediate (Stepdown) experience with a 3:1 or 2:1 nurse to patient ratio required
• Progressive care or telemetry-only experience is not sufficient
• Trach and vent experience required
• Experience titrating cardiac and vasopressor drips required
• Must be able to pass a drug screen for all panels

Responsibilities

• Acute care Stepdown Care Unit with 21 beds (9 private, rest semi-private)
• Nurse to patient ratio of 3 to 1
• Combined unit treating medical, neuro, neuro surgical, general/trauma surgical, and trauma patients
• Common diagnoses include COPD, CHF, DM, sepsis, ESRD, liver failure, pancreatitis, GI bleeds, DKA, alcohol withdrawal/overdose, complex pneumonia, stroke, seizures, post-op craniotomy, and cardiac conditions
• Patients may require trach/vent care, chest tubes, G tubes, NG tubes, PICC lines, central lines, and arterial lines
• RNs titrate drips including Cardene, Cardizem, Amio, Dobutamine, Heparin, and low-dose vasopressors
• All patients on bedside Phillips monitors; tele techs interpret strips with RN confirmation
• 12-hour night shifts, 1900-0730
• Every other weekend required (night shift works Fri/Sat)
• Every other holiday rotation with companion day coverage
• No call or standby requirements
• First to float among travelers; may float to ICU with extensive ICU experience, otherwise to other Stepdown or Gen Med units
• Uses Epic EMR
• Care for patients across a combined medical, neuro, neurosurgical, general/trauma surgical, and trauma unit
• Charge nurse and house supervisor available on every shift, with 24/7 house supervisor coverage
• 2 PCTs per shift support the unit
• Scrubs of any color permitted
• Unit orientation includes 1 day for Epic, 1 day with the unit educator, and 1 day on the floor with an RN
