The role involves caring for stroke, cardiac, sepsis, and surgical patients on a 23-bed unit with 1:3-4 nurse-to-patient ratios, 12-hour day shifts, and rotating weekend coverage. Includes travel housing allowance and licensure reimbursements.

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for an Intermediate Care/Stepdown unit position requiring ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certification in a Level 1 trauma hospital.

Requirements

• Current certifications in ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS (AHA)
• Minimum 1 year of relevant nursing experience required
• Experience with trach care, BiPap, stroke care, and IV titration required
• BSN not required for this position

Responsibilities

• Work in a 23-bed Intermediate Care/Stepdown unit within an acute care, Level 1 trauma hospital
• Patient population includes stroke, cardiac, sepsis, and surgical cases
• Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:3-4
• CNAs support the unit at ratios of 8-23 patients each
• Charge nurse coverage 24/7, typically without a patient assignment
• RNs required to titrate drips including heparin, nitro, cardizem, levo, cardene, and precedex
• Respiratory equipment used includes CPAP, BiPap, and high flow; RNs interpret their own telemetry strips
• 12-hour day shifts (7a-730p) with weekend rotation based on unit needs
• Holiday coverage required on a rotating basis
• No call or standby requirements
• Floating required throughout the facility, excluding ER and OB
• Uses EPIC EMR
• Provide stepdown-level nursing care for medically complex patients requiring close monitoring
• Any color professional scrub accepted; scrubs not provided
• Unit-specific orientation consists of 1-2 shifts
• COVID vaccination not required
