Job summary

American Traveler is hiring a Step Down RN for a 10-week winter coverage contract in Connecticut. Requires CT or Compact RN license, and a minimum of 2 years of step down experience with Epic charting.

Responsibilities include direct patient care in a Level II Trauma Center within Yale New Haven Health System, shift 3x12 hour days (0700-1930), and floating as needed. Free on-site parking and specific clinical duties are outlined.

Qualifications

• BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required.
• PCCN or CCRN certification preferred.
• CPI certification preferred.
• Minimum 2 years of recent experience required.
• Epic charting experience required.

• Step Down unit within a short term acute care hospital with 426 staffed beds.
• Shift schedule is 3x12 hour day shifts, 0700-1930.
• Every other weekend required.
• Floating required as needed for the department.
• Patient ratio of 1:3.
• Charting completed in Epic.
• 10-week contract for winter coverage only.
• Provide direct patient care to step down level patients including cardiac, neurological, and respiratory cases.
• Participate in rapid response and code team activities as needed.
• Free parking available on site.

Requirements

• Active RN license (CT or Compact) required
• BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
• PCCN or CCRN certification preferred
• CPI certification preferred
• Minimum 2 years of recent experience required
• Epic charting experience required
• Previous charge nurse experience preferred
• Teaching hospital experience preferred
• Experience with neurological, cardiac, respiratory, and renal patient populations
• Skilled in arterial line management, central and peripheral line care, and blood product administration
• Experience with cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, and telemetry monitoring
• Experience with non-invasive ventilation and airway management
• Experience with IV insulin protocols and titration
• 1 professional reference required

• First-time travelers may be considered
