Job summary

American Traveler is seeking a Night Shift RN for a PCU/Step Down Float role in Washington. Prior charge nurse experience and a WA or compact RN license are required. You will float across PCU/Step Down units, perform telemetry monitoring, and manage vasculature care and IV therapies on the night shift.

Requirements include 3+ years RN experience, BLS, and EPIC EMR familiarity. This role may require holiday coverage and potential travel between regional facilities.

Qualifications

• US healthcare experience required; Canadian experience alone does not qualify.
• BLS required; ACLS and NIHSS preferred.

Responsibilities

• Float RN across PCU/Step Down and related units.
• Manage telemetry, patient monitoring, and med-surg cases.
• Nights 19:00–07:30; 4x12 hour shifts.
• May assume charge nurse on small units with staff.
• Chart in EPIC; coordinate staffing and bed flow.
• Ensure coverage for 3 of 5 major holidays.

American Traveler is hiring a Night Shift RN for a PCU/Step Down Float position requiring prior charge nurse experience and a WA or compact RN license.

Requirements

• Active WA or compact RN license required in hand at time of consideration
• Minimum 3 years of RN experience required
• Previous charge nurse experience required
• Experience practicing in the US required; Canadian experience alone does not qualify
• BLS required; ACLS and NIHSS preferred
• Experience with telemetry, cardiac monitoring, and dysrhythmia interpretation
• Skilled in IV therapy, phlebotomy, and line care/management
• Experience managing respiratory support including BiPAP/CPAP, HFNC, and tracheostomy care
• EPIC EMR experience preferred
• Two supervisory references covering 1 year of employment within the last 3 years required for consideration
• Full SSN and DOB required for consideration

Responsibilities

• Float RN role covering PCU/Step Down and related units within the hospital
• Patient population may include ER boarded patients, telemetry, and med-surg cases
• Nurse to patient ratio varies from 1:4 to 1:6 depending on unit acuity
• Night shift schedule, 4x12 hours, 19:00-07:30
• May include charge nurse responsibilities on select small units staffed with RNs, LPNs, and CNAs
• Charting completed in EPIC
• May be required to float between sister facilities within the region
• Responsibilities include managing staffing needs, bed flow, and general coordination when serving in charge capacity
• Candidates must commit to working 3 of 5 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day)
• All RTO and scheduling requests must be submitted upfront during the consideration process
• Local candidates accepted at a lower bill rate
• Local radius rule of 50 miles applies
• Former Providence employees may return after a 3-month waiting period if located more than 50 miles from the facility
• Candidates must disclose any prior work history with Providence facilities, including dates and locations
• First-time travelers are not preferred for this role
