Job summary

American Traveler, LLC. is hiring a Registered Nurse for a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) in California. The role requires ICU-level skills with a 1:3 patient ratio and night shifts (3x12, 19:00-07:00). Local candidates may apply with adjusted rates; travel arrangements offered for eligible applicants.

The position demands active CA RN licensure (compact accepted), BLS, ACLS, NIHSS, and city fire card, with at least 1 year of nursing experience and ICU-level capabilities for cardiac/telemetry care.

Qualifications

• Active CA RN license required; compact license acceptable at submission.
• Current BLS, ACLS, NIHSS, and LA City Fire Card certifications required.
• Minimum 1 year of recent nursing experience.
• ICU-level skills preferred for PCU with cardiac monitoring capabilities.
• Able to manage dysrhythmias, telemetry and post-MI/CV-focused care.
• Proficient in respiratory care including BiPAP/CPAP and ventilator support.
• IV and line care including PICC and peripheral access.
• Experience with isolation precautions and PPE.

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive PCU nursing in an acute Magnet hospital setting.
• Maintain 1:3 patient ratio and night shift coverage (19:00–07:00).
• Work every other weekend; float to sister facilities as needed.
• No on-call requirements; document care in Epic EMR.
• Free parking; scrubs allowed; L/D and OR scrubs provided.
• Care for post-MI, CVA, TBI and renal failure patients; vent/tracheostomy support.
• First-time travelers welcome; local candidates may have lower bill rates.
• Must reside >50 miles to qualify for travel rate; submit to only one Providence facility.

Requirements

• Active CA RN license required (compact license must be in hand at submission)
• Current BLS, ACLS, NIHSS, and LA City Fire Card certifications required
• Minimum 1 year of recent nursing experience required
• ICU-level skills preferred for this PCU assignment
• Experience with cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia management, and telemetry (unit and remote) required
• Respiratory care skills required, including BiPAP/CPAP management, ventilator care, chest tube management, and ABG interpretation
• IV therapy and line management skills required, including PICC and peripheral line care
• Experience with isolation precautions and PPE required
• Two supervisory references covering 1 year of employment within the last 3 years required
• Full SSN and DOB required for consideration

Responsibilities

• Night shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts from 19:00-07:00

• Floating required within skillset, including to sister facilities as needed

• Care for patients requiring post-MI, CVA, traumatic brain injury, and renal failure management

• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Local candidates accepted, though lower bill rate may apply within a 50-mile radius
• Candidates must reside more than 50 miles away to qualify for travel rate
• Former Providence permanent staff may return as travelers after a 3-month waiting period, provided they live outside the 50-mile radius
• Must commit to working 3 of 5 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day)
• All RTO requests must be submitted upfront; post-offer RTO requests may not be accommodated
• Candidates may only be submitted to one Providence facility at a time
