Job summary

American Traveler is hiring a Night Shift RN for a Progressive Care Unit position requiring PCU and telemetry experience along with ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications.

Role includes 3x12 night shifts (19:00–07:30) with floating within the hospital or to a nearby affiliate, weekend coverage, and Epic charting. Candidates must reside more than 100 miles away and may have travel nurse status. Teaching hospital and prior charge nurse experience are a plus.

Qualifications

• Active RN license (KY State or Compact) required.
• Current certifications: ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS.
• Minimum 1 year of PCU and telemetry nursing experience required.
• Teaching hospital experience preferred.
• Previous charge nurse experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Work in a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) supporting Head, Neck, and Plastics patients.
• Night shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts from 19:00-07:30.
• Floating required within the hospital or to a nearby affiliate hospital.
• Weekend coverage required.
• Epic charting system experience preferred.
• Provide nursing care within a stepdown/telemetry unit for Head, Neck, and Plastics patients.
• Must reside more than 100 miles from the facility to be considered.
• Previous UK-affiliated staff must have been separated for at least 6 months before returning as a traveler.
• Required to work 3 of 5 winter holidays.
• RTO requests must be disclosed prior to consideration, as later requests will not be approved.

Requirements

• Active RN license (KY State or Compact) required
• Current certifications: ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS
• Minimum 1 year of PCU and telemetry nursing experience required
• Teaching hospital experience preferred
• Previous charge nurse experience preferred
• Skilled in IV therapy, central and peripheral line management, blood product administration, and PICC line management
• Experience with plastics-related care including surgical drains, skin grafts, and mastectomy care preferred
• Cardiac monitoring skills including dysrhythmia interpretation and management, and use of rapid response/code teams
• Wound care/wound vac experience preferred
• Knowledge of isolation precautions and PPE protocols
• Experience with feeding tube care, oxygen administration, and non-invasive airway management
