American Traveler, LLC. is hiring a Pediatric Stepdown RN for a night shift. Must have an IL RN license in hand, BLS and PALS, and at least 2 years of pediatric RN experience with vent/trach/G‑tube care. PICU exposure is preferred; Meditech charting is used.

The unit handles 39 beds, 2 weeks to 18 years old, with 50–60% tech-dependent patients. Night shifts are 3x12 or 4x12, with every other weekend required and no on-call duties.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Inpatient pediatric stepdown unit with 39 beds and diverse specialties.
• Care for patients aged 2 weeks to 18 years, many technology-dependent.
• Provide tracheostomy care and chronic ventilator management.
• Maintain patient ratios of 1:3–4 and shift coverage 19:00–7:30.
• Floating within scope and block scheduling as needed.

American Traveler is hiring a Pediatric Stepdown RN for a night shift assignment requiring an IL RN license in hand, PICU-level experience, and expertise with vent, trach, and G-tube patients.

Requirements

• Active IL RN license required in hand at time of consideration (compact licenses not accepted)
• BLS and PALS certifications required
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
• Prior experience with 1:4 patient ratios required
• Experience with ventilator, tracheostomy, and gastric tube (G-tube) care required
• Meditech charting system experience required
• PICU experience preferred
• Flu vaccine required, with medical and religious exemptions accepted

Responsibilities

• Inpatient pediatric stepdown unit with 39 beds covering all specialties
• Patients range from 2 weeks to 18 years old, with 50-60% requiring technology dependence
• Acute care unit for patients with chronic illness including tracheostomies and chronic ventilator dependence
• No drips, surgical, or transitional patients on this unit
• Patient ratio of 1:3-4
• Night shift, 3x12 or 4x12 hour shifts (19:00-7:30)
• Required to work every other weekend
• No on-call responsibilities
• Floating required within scope to meet facility needs
• Open to block scheduling accommodations
• Uses Meditech charting system
• Provide care for pediatric patients with tracheostomies and chronic ventilator needs
• Perform tracheostomy care and management of gastric tubes
• Scrubs of any color accepted as long as neat and clean, peds-themed attire encouraged
• Free parking available in shared lots at the public park where the facility is located
• RTO must be approved and included in the contract prior to start date, with no additions allowed after the contract begins
• Local candidates accepted at the same rate as travelers
• Previous staff members of this facility or its affiliated clinics are not eligible for consideration
• First-time travelers are not accepted for this position
• Candidates with pending IL RN licenses may be considered
