Job summary

American Traveler is seeking a Registered Nurse for a Pediatric ICU travel assignment in Missouri. The role requires 2+ years PICU experience and BLS/PALS certification. Night shifts are 19:00–7:30 with a 1:2–3 patient ratio in a teaching hospital setting.

Open position for 1 traveler; 50-mile radius restrictions apply. Housing allowance, travel reimbursements, and benefits are provided as part of the assignment.

Qualifications

• Active MO or Compact RN license in hand at time of consideration.
• BLS and PALS certifications.
• Minimum 2 years PICU experience.
• TNCC certification preferred but not required.
• Teaching hospital and Trauma Level I experience preferred.
• Previous charge experience preferred.
• IV therapy, phlebotomy, and administration of blood and blood products.
• Arterial line, central line, and PICC line management.
• Pediatric dosing calculations and emergency medications administration.
• Ventilator management (BiPAP/CPAP), ABG interpretation, tracheostomy care.
• Dysrhythmia interpretation and telemetry monitoring.
• Ability to ambulate and lift up to 20 lbs.

Responsibilities

• Care for critically ill pediatric patients in a fast-paced ICU environment.
• General Pediatric ICU setting with 1:2-3 patient ratio.
• Night shift, 3x12 hours, 19:00-7:30.
• Blocked schedules: Fri/Sat/Sun or Sat/Sun/Mon.
• Rotating shifts to fit unit needs.
• Cerner charting system preferred.
• Mandatory floating across the organization.
• On-call availability required.
• Facility operates 24/7, 365 days a year.
• Travelers within 50 miles of facility not eligible; 51-74 miles may be offered at local rate.

• Experience with arterial line management, central line care, and PICC line management
• Proficient in pediatric dosage calculations and administration of emergency medications including antiarrhythmics and IV vasopressors
• Respiratory skills required including ventilator management, BiPAP/CPAP, ABG interpretation, and tracheostomy care
• Experience with dysrhythmia interpretation and management, and telemetry monitoring
• Ability to ambulate, reach, and move objects weighing up to and over 20 lbs

• Mandatory floating required, including Patient Observer/Sitter duties across the organization
• On-call availability required
• Care for critically ill pediatric patients in a fast-paced ICU environment
• Facility operates 24/7, 365 days a year, requiring flexibility for rotating shifts and inclement weather coverage
• Required to work at least 50% of holidays occurring during the contract
• Maximum RTO of 10 days, with none permitted during the first week due to orientation
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Travelers residing within 50 miles of the facility are not eligible for consideration
• Travelers residing 51-74 miles away may be offered at a local rate
• Routine contact with patients who may have contagious illnesses should be expected
• Non-billable training modules (4-6 hours) completed during orientation and annually
