Job summary

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Pediatric ICU travel assignment in Tennessee. The role requires a TN or compact RN license, BLS and PALS certification, and at least 2 years of PICU experience.

You will work on a 14-bed PICU with a variety of pediatric diagnoses, provide ventilator management, central line care, and other critical care interventions. Night shifts are 3x12 hours (1845-0715) with every other weekend; travel and licensure reimbursement are provided.

Qualifications

• Active TN or compact RN license required.
• Current BLS and PALS certification required.
• Minimum 2 years of PICU experience.
• Prior travel nursing experience required.
• Two professional references required.
• Skilled in respiratory care including ventilator management, ABG interpretation, and airway care.
• Experience with IV therapy, central line care, and PICC line management preferred.
• Experience with neurologic care including EVD and ICP monitoring preferred.
• Experience with hemodynamic monitoring and dysrhythmia interpretation preferred.

Responsibilities

• Work in a 14-bed PICU with 11 private rooms and one semi-private area of 3 beds.
• Patient population ranges from infants to 21 years old.
• Common diagnoses include DKA, respiratory failure, respiratory distress, pneumonia, status asthmaticus, trauma, sepsis, ingestion, seizures, altered mental status, post-arrest, and post-surgical cases.
• Bedside procedures include central line or arterial line placement, chest tube placement, bronchoscopy, and EVD/bolt placement.
• Equipment used includes Philips monitors, Servo ventilators, Alaris IV pumps, and Kangaroo feeding pumps.
• Night shift schedule (3x12 hours), 1845-0715.
• Every other weekend (EOW) required.
• Floating to other units required as needed.
• Provide critical care nursing to pediatric patients with complex and acute conditions.
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary care team in a high-acuity PICU setting.
• Travelers who have oriented at this facility within the past year are not required to reorient.
• Local candidates accepted at the same rate.
• RTO must be disclosed prior to consideration.
• License history must be disclosed prior to consideration, with possible flexibility given explanation.
