Job summary

American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg Tele RN for a day-shift contract in Illinois. Requirements include an active IL RN license, BLS, 2+ years experience (4+ preferred), EKG test, and Epic EMR familiarity, with at least one completed travel assignment.

Shifts are 12 hours from 7:00am to 7:30pm, with every-other weekend and holiday coverage. On-site EKG test Day 1; failure may terminate the contract. New grads are not accepted, and local candidates within 50 miles are favored.

Responsibilities

• Float to other Med/Surg units when not needed in ED.
• 12-hour day shifts, 7:00am-7:30pm.
• Every-other weekend requirement.
• Holiday coverage as needed (1–2 holidays).
• No on-call requirements.
• 8-week contract length.
• On-site EKG test on Day 1 of orientation; passing is required.
• Care for boarded Med/Surg Tele patients within the ED and fluently float as needed.
• Brief interview (10–15 minutes) prior to placement.

Responsibilities

• Med/Surg Tele unit caring for boarded patients in the ED (not ED patients)
• Floating required to other Med/Surg units when not needed in the ED
• 12-hour day shifts, 7:00am-7:30pm
• Every-other weekend requirement
• Holiday coverage required as needed (1-2 holidays during the contract)
• No on-call requirements
• 8-week contract length
• Care for boarded Med/Surg Tele patients within the ED and float to other Med/Surg units as needed
• On-site EKG test required on Day 1 of orientation; failure to pass may result in contract termination
• A study guide will be provided in advance of the on-site EKG test
• First-time travelers are not accepted for this position
• Returning permanent or per diem staff must be separated for 12 months before being considered as a traveler
• RTO limited to a maximum of 3 days for 8-week contracts
• Local candidates accepted at the same pay rate
• Local radius of 50 miles applies
• Facility will conduct a brief interview (10-15 minutes) prior to placement
