Responsibilities

• Care for high acuity psychiatric patients in a locked acute mental health unit.

• Treat adults 18–65 (occasionally older) with high acuity needs.
• Assist with ADL care for neurodiverse patients, including non-verbal autism.
• Utilize restraint chair, Hoyer lift, duress badges, IV and feeding pumps when needed.
• Shift options: day 7:00–19:30 or night 19:00–07:30.
• No on-call responsibilities or floating required.
• Provide direct psychiatric care in a secure unit.

American Traveler is hiring an experienced Behavioral Health RN for a locked acute mental health unit, requiring an active MN RN license and 2+ years of experience.

• Epic/Excellian EMR charting system used
• MN fingerprints required as a compliance item before starting onsite

Responsibilities

• Work in a hospital Behavioral Health unit, specifically the ED MH suite and CK4800 closed observation suite
• One of three adult locked, acute mental health units with 24 beds total
• Care for high acuity mental health patients, adults ages 18-65 (occasionally older)
• Patients may include 18-year-olds who have moved out of the home and graduated high school
• Average length of stay is 7-9 days, though some patients may stay up to six months
• Work with neurodiverse, non-verbal autism patients requiring ADL care
• Uses restraint chair, Hoyer lift, duress badges, and occasionally IV pumps, feeding pumps, and NG tubes
• Day shift (3x12 hours, 7:00-19:30) or Night shift (3x12 hours, 19:00-7:30)
• Required to work every other weekend
• No on-call responsibilities
• No floating within or outside the facility required
• Provide direct care to high acuity psychiatric patients in a locked acute mental health unit
• Facility is a Magnet-designated, teaching hospital with Level III Trauma status
• Navy blue scrubs required
• RTO requests ideally no more than 5 days
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Returning travelers must have been gone at least 3 months from their last shift worked as a perm employee (staff or per diem)
• Local candidates accepted
• Candidates residing less than 100 miles from the facility will not be accepted for this position
