American Traveler is hiring a Pediatric Behavioral Health RN for a locked inpatient unit in Cincinnati, OH. The role requires psychiatric and pediatric experience and an OH or compact RN license.

Day shifts are 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM, 3x12-hour shifts, with every other weekend and holiday coverage. Travel experience and strong communication with children and adolescents are essential; ABA training is a plus.

Qualifications

• BLS certification required.
• 1 year psychiatric setting experience required.
• Pediatric experience required.
• 2 years in specialty required.
• Prior travel experience required.
• 2 manager references within past 12 months.
• ABA training strongly preferred for select positions.
• Must comply with behavioral PPE.
• Strong communication with children/adolescents.

Responsibilities

• Manage locked pediatric behavioral health unit in hospital.
• Treat children/adolescents with mood and anxiety disorders.
• Work day shifts: 7:00 AM–7:00 PM, 3x12h.
• Every other weekend/holiday coverage required.
• Floating to additional campus as needed.
• Use Epic EMR; administer meds; document care.
• Assist with ADLs and patient education.
• Facilitate groups and regular safety checks.
• Provide 1:1 sitter supervision for high-risk patients.
• Admit/discharge/care rounds participation.

American Traveler is hiring a Pediatric Behavioral Health RN for a locked inpatient unit requiring psychiatric and pediatric experience plus an OH or compact RN license.

Requirements

• Active RN license (OH or Compact) required
• BLS certification required
• TCI (Therapeutic Crisis Intervention) training preferred; provided within first month if not already completed
• Minimum 1 year experience in a psychiatric setting required
• Pediatric experience required
• Minimum 2 years experience in specialty required
• Prior travel experience required
• 2 manager references within past 12 months required for consideration
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills with children and adolescents required
• Physically able to lift 25 lbs and participate in physical holds/restraints
• Previous charge experience a plus
• Previous training in Applied Behavioral Analysis (ABA) strongly preferred for select positions
• Must demonstrate compliance with wearing behavioral personal protective equipment

Responsibilities

• Locked/secured pediatric behavioral health unit within a hospital setting
• Treats children and adolescents with conditions such as bipolar disorder, anxiety, eating disorders, psychotic disorders, and depressive disorders
• Day shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM
• Every other weekend and holiday coverage required
• Floating required within hospital, potentially to an additional campus
• Epic EMR experience preferred
• No on-call requirements noted
• Facilitate therapeutic groups and conduct regular safety checks
• Assist with ADLs including meal supervision, bathing, toileting, and laundry
• Engage patients in recreational activities such as games and gym time
• Provide 1:1 sitter supervision for high-risk or acute patients on the inpatient unit or in the Emergency Department
• Administer medications and document care regularly in the EMR
• Participate in admissions, discharges, and care rounds
• Provide patient and family education
• Perform nursing interventions for chronic and acute mental health diagnoses with appropriate documentation
• Must be fully vaccinated, including COVID-19, with no exemptions accepted
• Previous employees of the facility are ineligible to apply for 1 year from their term date
• RTO requests must be submitted at time of application and cannot exceed 5 days
• Block scheduling not guaranteed except for weekend-only requests (Friday-Sunday)
• Candidates within 50 miles of the facility will be considered local and subject to local pay rates
• Additional background check and fingerprinting required on first day of assignment
