American Traveler, LLC. is hiring a Pediatric Behavioral Health RN for a night shift contract in Cincinnati, OH. The role requires an OH or compact RN license, BLS, and pediatric behavioral health experience.

Emphasis on safety, family education, and teamwork in a hospital setting. Responsibilities include night hours (3x12), patient supervision, medications, and care coordination. Local candidates within 50 miles receive local pay; onboarding includes background checks and fingerprinting on day

Qualifications

• Active OH or compact RN license required.
• BLS certification required.
• Minimum 2 years of pediatric behavioral health experience.
• Minimum 1 year of psychiatric setting experience.
• Pediatric experience required.
• Previous charge nurse experience is a plus.
• Experience with bipolar, anxiety, eating, psychotic, and depressive disorders preferred.
• ABA training strongly preferred for select positions.

Responsibilities

• Locked/secured pediatric behavioral health unit.
• Night shift schedule (3x12 hours, 7:00 PM-7:00 AM).
• Every other weekend and holiday coverage required.
• Floating within the hospital; may include additional campus location.
• Facilitate therapeutic groups and safety checks.
• Assist patients with ADLs including meals, bathing, toileting, and laundry.
• Engage patients in recreational activities and gym time.
• Provide 1:1 sitter supervision for high-risk patients.
• Document in EMR and support admissions/discharges.
• Represent patient information during team rounds and educate patients/families.
• Perform nursing interventions for chronic and acute mental health diagnoses.

Job description

American Traveler is hiring a Pediatric Behavioral Health RN for a night shift contract requiring psychiatric and pediatric experience with an OH or compact RN license.

Requirements

• Active OH or compact RN license required
• BLS certification required
• TCI (Therapeutic Crisis Intervention) certification preferred, with training provided within the first month if needed
• Minimum 2 years of experience in pediatric behavioral health specialty required
• Minimum 1 year of psychiatric setting experience required
• Pediatric experience required
• Previous charge nurse experience a plus
• Experience with bipolar, anxiety, eating, psychotic, and depressive disorders preferred
• Previous ABA (Applied Behavioral Analysis) training strongly preferred for select positions
• Physically able to lift 25 lbs and participate in physical holds/restraints
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills, especially with children and adolescents
• Consistent compliance with behavioral PPE required
• 2 manager references required within the past 12 months at time of consideration

Responsibilities

• Locked/secured pediatric behavioral health unit
• Night shift schedule (3x12 hours, 7:00 PM-7:00 AM)
• Every other weekend and holiday coverage required
• No guaranteed block scheduling, though requests for weekend-only blocks (Fri-Sun) may be considered
• Floating within the hospital required, potentially including an additional campus location
• Epic EMR preferred
• Facilitate therapeutic groups and complete regular safety checks
• Assist patients with ADLs including meal supervision, bathing, toileting, and laundry
• Engage patients in recreational activities such as games and gym time
• Provide 1:1 sitter supervision for high-risk or acute patients on the inpatient unit or in the Emergency Department
• Document regularly in the Electronic Medical Record
• Administer medications and support admissions and discharges
• Represent patient information during team rounds
• Provide patient and family education
• Perform nursing interventions for chronic and acute mental health diagnoses with applicable documentation
• Candidates within 50 miles of the facility will be considered local, with local rates applying
• RTO requests must be submitted at time of consideration and cannot exceed 5 days total
• No declinations or religious/medical exemptions accepted
• Previous employees of this health system are ineligible to apply for 1 year from their termination date
• Additional background check and fingerprinting required onsite on first day, which could impact employment
