Job summary

TalentBurst is seeking a Registered Nurse for the PCU on a 13-week onsite contract in Summit Hermitage, TN. Night shift, 12 hours per day, 3 days per week, with a weekly stipend and base pay.

Responsibilities include delivering high quality cardiac care, monitoring patients, and ensuring accurate documentation in Meditech. Requires TN RN license, ACLS, BLS, and strong critical thinking. Opportunity to work with diverse teams on a fast-paced unit.

Qualifications

• Must have: RN license (TN) and critical thinking with EKG rhythm interpretation.
• Experience with cardiac drips, insulin drips and heparin drips; peritoneal dialysis and peripheral IV skills preferred.
• ACLS certification required; BLS and NIH certification recommended.

Responsibilities

• Provide care in PCU settings with nurse-to-patient ratios around 1:4 to 1:6.
• Perform unit procedures and monitor cardiac patients.
• Coordinate with team to ensure patient safety and timely documentation.

General Information
Unit Specifics:
Number of Beds : 630 has 34 beds/ 633 has 25
Patient Ratios : 1:4 to 1:5 on days, 1:5 to 1:6 on nights
Unit staffing description- (unit secretaries and tech availability) : 3 techs when full on 630 and 2 techs when full on 633
Type of equipment : bipaps, high flow o2, vapotherm, alaris pumps, cardiac drips, heparin drips, insulin drips, peritoneal dialysis. Wound vacs in conjunction with wound care
Documentation system: Meditech
Scheduling requirements: every other weekend requirement for contract, 3 12 hour shifts a week
Floating policy: may have to float in between PCU units or float to med-surg floors
Patient Experience requirements: hourly rounding on days, every 2 hour rounding on nights, AIDET and keeping up with communication boards on 7th floor. Dept 633 has tv communication boards.

Requested Skill Set:
Must have: Critical thinking skills, EKG rhythm interpretation, cardiac drip, insulin drip and heparin drip experience. Peritoneal dialysis experience preferred and peripheral iv skills.
Advanced skills needed: ACLS. Experience with bipaps, high flow 02 and multiple oxygen delivery systems. Experience with stroke and post cardiac cath care. Peritoneal dialysis experience preferred. Experience with tube feedings and NG/dobhoff tubes.
Procedures performed on unit: Peritoneal dialysis, thoracentesis, paracentesis, chest tube insertions, dobhoff/NG tube insertions, central line dressing changes. Trouble shooting wound vacs
Certifications Required: BLS, ACLS and NIH Certification
