American Traveler, LLC. is seeking an experienced RN for a PACU position in West Virginia. Active WV or compact RN license required, with 2+ years of PACU experience.

Must hold BLS, ACLS, and PALS; TNCC required for PACU and Surgery Center areas. The role includes 12-hour day shifts with potential 8s or 10s, floats between inpatient and outpatient PACU, Surgery Center, and Anesthesia Clinic, and a rotating weekend call schedule.

Responsibilities

• Provide care in an inpatient and outpatient PACU/Recovery area
• Operate in units with multiple bays across PACU, Surgery Center, and Anesthesia Clinic
• Monitor and recover diverse surgical cases (excluding open hearts)
• Use Sunrise EMR for documentation
• Work 12-hour day shifts, with possible 8s or 10s
• Float between inpatient and outpatient PACU, Surgery Center, and Anesthesia Clinic
• Weekend 24-hour call shifts monthly plus two overnight calls
• Holiday call coverage on a rotating basis

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a PACU position requiring BLS, ACLS, and PALS certification along with 2+ years of experience.

Requirements

• Active WV or compact RN license required
• Minimum 2 years of PACU experience required
• BLS, ACLS, and PALS certification required
• TNCC certification required for PACU and Surgery Center areas
• Must be able to read and interpret telemetry strips
• Unexpired driver's license copy required for consideration

Responsibilities

• Acute care setting within an inpatient and outpatient PACU/Recovery Room environment, including Surgery Center and Anesthesia Clinic areas
• Unit includes 7 inpatient bays, 15 outpatient PACU bays, 14 Surgery Center bays, and 6 Anesthesia Clinic rooms
• Patients recovered include general, neuro, thoracic, interventional, Cath lab, radiology, and ICU cases (excluding open hearts)
• Typical PACU ratios apply for Phase 1 and Phase 2 recovery
• Uses Sunrise EMR system
• 12-hour day shifts predominantly, with possible 8s or 10s depending on departmental needs
• Shift start times vary; staff expected to remain until cases are complete
• Floating required between inpatient and outpatient PACU, Surgery Center, and Anesthesia Clinic
• Weekend call requirement of one 24-hour shift per month from 7am-7am
• Additional on-call requirement of two overnight shifts per month from 11pm-7am
• Holiday call coverage required on a rotating basis with permanent staff
• Recover a wide variety of surgical and procedural patients, including ICU patients with the exception of open hearts
• Each PACU area has its own charge nurse who also carries a patient assignment
• Unit assisted by UA2 nursing aides cross-trained as receptionists
• 24/7 in-house respiratory therapy and pharmacy support available, with Pyxis system in place
• Scrubs provided for PACU and Surgery Center areas; Anesthesia Clinic staff must provide their own navy blue scrubs
• Floor-specific orientation consists of 2-3 shifts
• Must reside within 50 miles of the facility, with no local travelers accepted
• Returning travelers must have taken a 2-year break before reapplying to any WVU Medicine facility
• Travelers may not work within the WVU system for longer than one year without a required 2-year break
• Cancellation policy allows for up to 2 shifts per 13-week contract
