Job summary

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a PACU position with ACLS and PALS certification and at least 2 years of PACU experience. The role requires an active RN license (NC or Compact) and offers travel-specific benefits, including housing support.

The PACU nurse will work in a 294-bed Joint Commission accredited hospital, handling post-anesthesia care with a patient population primarily post-op under general anesthesia. ICU experience is a plus.

Qualifications

• Active RN license (NC or Compact) required.
• Current ACLS and PALS certifications required.
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required.
• PACU experience required.
• ICU experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Work in the Post Anesthesia Recovery (PACU) unit of a 294-bed Joint Commission accredited hospital.
• 8-bed unit plus 1 isolation room.
• Patient ratios per ASPAN standards, ranging from 1:1 to 2:1.
• Cares for all patient populations except neonates, primarily post-op surgical patients under general anesthesia.
• Uses cardiac monitors, IV equipment, SCDs, nasal O2, Omni Cell, and blanket warmers.
• Meditech EHR experience preferred.
• Shift varies between 7:00 AM and 6:00 PM with rotating start and end times among staff.
• Must be willing to work 8x5 and 4x10 schedules as needed.
• Call required approximately once per week and every 3-4 weekends.
• Weekend coverage required every other weekend.
• Floating not typically required but may assist other surgical services areas as needed.
• Deliver post-anesthesia recovery care to surgical patients.
• Work as part of a collaborative, team-oriented unit.
• Expected to be pleasant, positive, and a strong team player.
• Bi-weekly orientation schedule.
• Must comply with facility HR dress code policy; no inappropriate or revealing attire.
• Must reside 60 miles or greater from the facility to be eligible for travel rate.
• Cannot have worked as permanent staff at any LifePoint facility within the last 12 months.
• Cannot be employed elsewhere full time while on assignment.
