Job summary

American Traveler is hiring an experienced ICU RN for a 13-week acute care assignment requiring ICU experience and BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications. The role features a high-acuity 8-bed ICU and a 1:3 nurse-to-patient ratio with rotating 12-hour shifts.

Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility and hold an active RN license in PA or a compact license. Travel benefits and weekly pay are included.

Qualifications

• Active RN license (PA or compact) required.
• Current BLS (AHA), ACLS, and PALS certifications required.
• Minimum 1 year of RN experience required.
• Prior ICU experience required.

Responsibilities

• Acute care 8-bed ICU unit treating cardiac and neurology patients.
• Nurse to patient ratio of 1:3.
• Rotating 12-hour shifts, 7a-7p or 7p-7a, with every other weekend required.
• Every other holiday coverage required.
• No on-call or standby requirement.
• Deliver direct patient care in a high-acuity ICU setting with cardiac and neurological cases.
• Collaborate with hospitalists, residents, and respiratory therapists for patient management.

Requirements

• Active RN license (PA or compact) required
• Current BLS (AHA), ACLS, and PALS certifications required
• Minimum 1 year of RN experience required
• Prior ICU experience required
• BSN not required for this position

Responsibilities

• Acute care 8-bed ICU unit treating cardiac and neurology patients
• Nurse to patient ratio of 1:3
• Rotating 12-hour shifts, 7a-7p or 7p-7a, with every other weekend required
• Every other holiday coverage required
• No on-call or standby requirement
• No floating required
• Charge nurse accepts patient assignments
• RNs required to titrate drips including common titratable and set-rate medications
• RNs interpret their own cardiac rhythms using Nihon-Kohden telemetry monitors
• Respiratory therapists manage all ventilator care; RNs troubleshoot equipment only
• Hospitalist and resident/mid-level coverage available with RT in-house as needed
• MEDITECH EMR used for charting
• Any scrub color accepted
• Guaranteed 36 hours per week
• Deliver direct patient care in a high-acuity ICU setting with cardiac and neurological cases
• Collaborate with hospitalists, residents, and respiratory therapists for patient management
• Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility (100 miles for Princeton Community Hospital) to be considered
• Travelers who previously worked at any WVU Medicine location must have a 2-year break before reapplying
• Travelers cannot work within WVU facilities for longer than a cumulative year without taking a 2-year break
• Former perm staff at Princeton Community, Potomac Valley, and Garrett Regional are not eligible to return as travelers
