Job summary

American Traveler is hiring an experienced PACU RN with Phase I PACU and cath lab recovery experience for a day shift position at a teaching hospital. The role requires active CA RN license, BSN, BLS, ACLS, PALS, and 3+ years of inpatient PACU experience.

Responsibilities include working in the PACU, 4x10 hour days, start times between 8:00 AM and 11:00 AM, and call availability. Flexibility to orient across locations and travel within a 75+ mile radius is required.

Qualifications

• Active CA RN license required at time of consideration.
• BSN required.
• Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, and PALS.
• Minimum 3 years of experience required.
• Phase I PACU experience required.
• Inpatient experience required.
• Cath lab recovery experience required.
• Teaching hospital experience required and must be noted in employment history.
• Prior travel experience within the last 12 months required.
• Experience with cardiac monitoring, arterial line management, dysrhythmia recognition/management, IV therapy/phlebotomy, blood product administration, and central line care/management.
• Experience administering IV vasopressors, narcotics/opioid analgesics, and reversal agents.
• 2 professional references from most recent employer required for consideration.

• Day shift schedule (4x10 hours) with start times between 8:00 AM and 11:00 AM.
• Monday through Friday with call availability.
• Flexibility to orient and work across all facility locations.
• Floating from preop to PACU.
• May be reassigned to a different department, unit, or facility within a 75+ mile radius if qualified.
• Provide post-anesthesia care to patients recovering from a variety of surgical procedures including bariatrics, ENT, general, gyn, neuro, ophthalmology, ortho, vascular, podiatry, robotics, and urology cases.
• Care for patients recovering from various anesthesia types including general, local, MAC, nerve blocks, spinal, conscious sedation, and post-epidural management.
• Knowledge of Malignant Hyperthermia Protocol, pain assessment and management, PCA pump management, and RASS required.
• Experience with cardiovascular care including pacemaker insertion and post cath lab procedures.
• Experience with care of ventilated patients and neurological monitoring including EVD and ICP monitoring.
• Local candidates accepted at the same rate as travel candidates.
• Any prior employment history with University of California medical facilities or their acquired facilities must be disclosed for rehire eligibility review.
• All requested time off must be disclosed and approved by the manager at time of offer, with no additional requests accepted mid-contract.
• Time off is not permitted during the first two weeks of the assignment.
