Job summary

American Traveler is seeking a Registered Nurse First Assist for an Operating Room assignment in California. The role requires 3 years of scrub and circulating experience and proficiency across multiple surgical specialties, with a California RN license and CRNFA/BLS certification.

You will work day shifts, 4x10s or 3x12s, with on-call and holiday requirements. Epic EMR experience is required, and prior experience with vascular, cardiovascular, transplant, and general surgical cases is

Qualifications

• Active CA RN license (compact license acceptable)
• BLS and CRNFA certification required
• Minimum 1 year of experience; OR scrub/circulating preferred
• 3 years of scrub and circulating experience in the OR
• Epic EMR experience required
• Experience with vascular, cardiovascular, transplant, and general surgical cases preferred
• 2 references covering 1 year in last 3 years
• Full SSN and DOB required for consideration

Responsibilities

• Acute hospital OR setting with RNFA unit assignment
• Day shift 4x10 hours (12:30–23:00); 3x12 schedules accepted
• Proficiency in robotics, bariatric, general, colorectal, ortho/spine, vascular, urology, gynecology cases
• On-call duties, approximately 8 days per 6-week schedule
• Kidney call rotation Mon-Fri 18:00–06:00; Sat/Sun 24h 06:00–06:00
• General call rotation Sat, Sun, holidays 07:00–17:00
• May float between sister facilities near location
• Perform first assist duties with circulating nurse
• Experience with vascular and cardiovascular cases; transplant experience preferred
• Must commit to 3 of 5 major holidays

American Traveler is hiring a Registered Nurse First Assist for an Operating Room position requiring 3 years of scrub and circulating experience and proficiency across multiple surgical specialties.

Requirements

• Active CA RN license required (compact license must be in hand at time of submission)
• BLS and CRNFA certification required
• Minimum 1 year of experience required, with additional experience in OR scrubbing and circulating preferred
• 3 years of scrub and circulating experience in the OR required
• Epic EMR experience required
• Experience with vascular, cardiovascular, transplant, and general surgical cases preferred
• 2 professional references covering 1 year of employment within the last 3 years, in a comparable specialty/setting
• Full SSN and DOB required for consideration

Responsibilities

• Acute hospital OR setting with RNFA unit assignment
• Day shift schedule, 4x10 hours from 12:30 to 23:00 (3x12 schedules also accepted)
• Proficiency required in robotics, bariatric, general, colorectal, ortho/spine, vascular, urology, and gynecology cases
• On-call responsibilities estimated at 8 days during a 6-week schedule, split evenly among RNFAs
• Kidney call rotation Monday through Friday 1800-0600, and Saturday/Sunday 24-hour coverage 0600-0600
• General call rotation on Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays from 0700-1700 (no kidney call on holidays)
• May be required to float between sister facilities near the contracted location
• Perform first assist duties including counting sponges and related items with the circulating nurse
• Experience with vascular procedures such as AAA repair, carotid endarterectomy, EVAR/TEVAR, and femoral popliteal bypass
• Experience with cardiovascular procedures such as CABG, valve replacement, VAD, and pacemaker implantation preferred
• Experience with transplant procedures involving heart, kidney, liver, and lung preferred
• Must commit to working 3 of 5 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day)
• All RTO and scheduling requests must be submitted upfront; requests made after offer may not be accommodated
• Candidates living within 50 miles of the facility may be accepted at a lower bill rate
• Former permanent staff must wait at least 3 months before returning as a travel RN and must reside outside a 50-mile radius
• First-time travelers are not required for this assignment
