Job summary

American Traveler, LLC. is seeking an experienced CVOR RN for a hospital CVOR assignment in North Carolina. Candidates should have NC or Compact RN licensure, 2+ years of CVOR experience, and hands-on ECMO and Impella skills. BLS is required, ACLS preferred.

The position involves day shifts (4x10s), 1:1 patient care, call duties, and potential travel with team assignments. Epic charting and SBAR communication are used in daily operations.

Qualifications

• CVOR experience required
• ECMO and Impella experience required
• Experience with vascular and major CV surgeries (e.g., AAA repair, CABG)
• TAVR and thoracic surgery experience preferred
• Trauma Level I experience preferred
• Epic charting experience preferred
• First-time travelers accepted if they meet requirements

Responsibilities

• CVOR setting with 1:1 patient care across multiple rooms
• Day shift 4x10 hours 0615–1645
• Call 2 days per week and every 3rd weekend; weekend rotation every 3rd weekend
• Floating to OR as needed; may be assigned to Storm/Hurricane teams
• Use PYXIS, EPIC, and SBAR for meds, documentation, and communication
• Provide direct patient care and surgical support in CVOR
• Scrubs provided; orientation and pre-start modules as needed
• Must work 2 of 3 major holidays; RTO considerations and travel pairing details
• Local candidates within 50 miles accepted at lower rate
• Contract length up to 13 weeks through 2/27/2026

Job description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced CVOR RN with 2+ years of experience, ECMO and Impella skills, and NC or Compact RN licensure for a hospital CVOR position.

Requirements

• Active NC or Compact RN license required
• BLS required; ACLS preferred
• Minimum 2 years of relevant RN experience required
• CVOR experience required
• ECMO and Impella experience required
• Experience with Vascular, Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm repair, Carotid Endarterectomy, Cardiovascular, Aortic Aneurysm repair, CABG, and Scrub Cardiovascular Surgery
• TAVR and Scrub Thoracic Surgery experience preferred
• Trauma Level I experience preferred
• Epic charting experience preferred
• First time travelers accepted if they meet experience requirements

Responsibilities

• Cardiovascular Operating Room (CVOR) setting
• 1:1 patient ratio with 6 visits per day across 3 rooms
• Day shift schedule, 4x10 hours from 0615-1645
• Call required 2 days per week and every 3rd weekend
• Weekend rotation required every 3rd weekend
• Floating required to OR as needed
• May be assigned to Storm Team and/or Hurricane Team and required to report during catastrophic events or mass casualty situations
• Uses PYXIS, EPIC, and SBAR for medication, documentation, and communication
• Provide direct patient care and surgical support within the CVOR
• Scrubs provided in blue
• Approximately 24 hours of orientation provided depending on experience
• Pre-start modules required, approximately 8-10 hours for acute care roles, completed online and annually
• Must work 2 of 3 major holidays
• Up to 7 days RTO auto-approved if not falling on a holiday; no RTO permitted during first week of assignment
• Travel pairs allowed if on different units and disclosed at submission
• Former Novant Health or New Hanover employees must wait 12 months before reapplying, with facility approval required
• Local candidates within 50 miles accepted at a lower rate
• Contracts longer than 13 weeks, through 2/27/2026, will be considered
