Job summary

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a CVOR position at a major academic medical center affiliated with Rutgers RWJ Medical School. The role requires scrub and circulate skills across cardiovascular, vascular, and robotic procedures.

The ideal candidate has NJ or Compact RN licensure, BLS, 3+ years CVOR experience, EPIC charting proficiency, and prior Charge RN experience. Night shift 3x12, on-call, and weekend coverage are included.

Qualifications

• Active NJ or Compact RN license required.
• BLS certification required; CNOR preferred.
• Minimum 3 years CVOR experience required.
• EPIC charting experience required.
• 1 supervisory reference required for consideration.
• Trauma/academic medical center OR experience required.

Responsibilities

• Works in the CVOR at a tertiary referral center for cardiovascular and transplant care
• Adult open heart surgery setting within a Level I trauma hospital
• Performs both scrub and circulate roles
• Cases include CABG, aortic aneurysm repair, mitral valve replacement, MAZE procedure, TAVR, LVAD/RVAD, and thoracic procedures (lobe resection, thoracotomy, VATS)
• Vascular cases include AAA repair, carotid endarterectomy, carotid stenting, TEVAR, and femoral popliteal bypass graft
• Additional case exposure in ortho/neuro (spine fusions, laminectomy, total joint replacement), general surgery, and robotics (colorectal, GI, GYN, neuro, ortho, urologic, TORS)
• Transplant case exposure includes heart, kidney, liver, lung, and organ donation
• Night shift schedule, 3x12 hours (18:00-06:30)
• Every other weekend required
• On-call approximately 1 weekend per month, 24-hour call both Saturday and Sunday
• Floats within skillset to Main OR when no CVOR cases are scheduled
• EPIC charting experience required
• Scrub and circulate for a high-volume cardiovascular program performing 1,700+ cardiac surgeries annually, including 400+ structural heart cases
• Supports open-heart, minimally invasive, and robotic procedures including CABG, valve and aortic surgery, TAVR, transplant, ECMO, and VAD implantation
• Part of an academic medical center affiliated with Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School
• Hospital-provided scrubs
• Winter holiday coverage required (work or on-call) for 1 of 2 or 2 of 3 holidays: Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year's
• First-time travelers accepted, though travel experience is preferred
• Local candidates accepted at the same rate as travelers
• Former RWJBH employees (FT or PRN) must have a minimum 1-year separation from the system before returning as a traveler
