Job description

American Traveler is hiring an RN - Operating Room with Epic charting experience and BLS/ACLS certification for a day shift surgical role requiring rotational call.

Requirements

• Active RN license (VA or Compact) required at time of consideration
• AHA BLS required; AHA ACLS and CNOR certifications preferred
• Minimum 2 years of recent OR nursing experience required
• Epic charting experience required
• Teaching hospital experience preferred
• Experience with gynecologic, orthopedic, general surgery, and robotic procedures preferred
• Must complete Relias EKG testing within 72 hours of signing
• Must complete drug screening 12-14 days prior to start date
• Facial hair must be trimmed or removed to meet CDC fit testing guidelines

Responsibilities

• Operating Room unit within a hospital setting
• Day shift schedule, 5x8 hours, 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM
• Rotational weekend call required, with possible rotational weekday call
• Epic charting system experience required
• Performs a wide range of surgical specialties including general surgery, gynecology, orthopedics, urology, ENT, plastics, thoracic, and robotics
• Uses equipment such as electrosurgical units, fiber optic light sources, Hana table, and Steris systems
• Experience with robotic surgical systems such as Da Vinci Xi and Mako preferred
• Provide perioperative nursing care across a variety of surgical specialties including general, gynecologic, orthopedic, urologic, ENT, and robotic procedures
• Responsible for infection control, specimen handling, and adherence to Universal Protocol (time-out) procedures
• Supports emergency management protocols including code response, fire safety, and malignant hyperthermia management
• General orientation begins on Sundays with online CBL modules completed during non-billable orientation hours
• Must reside 100+ miles from the facility's service area; local candidates not accepted
• First-time travelers may be considered depending on candidate experience
