Job summary

American Traveler LLC is hiring an experienced Operating Room RN with cardiothoracic surgical support and Epic proficiency for a Level-II Trauma Center in the Newport News, VA area.

The role requires active VA or compact RN license, BLS/ACLS, and at least 2 years of recent OR experience. You’ll support multiple surgeons across CT, thoracic, and vascular cases on a 3x12 schedule with on-call duties and travel eligibility.

Qualifications

• BLS and ACLS certifications by AHA
• Minimum 2 years OR experience (recent)
• Cardiothoracic/thoracic/vascular support experience preferred
• Epic charting experience required
• NIH and stroke education
• Prior travel experience required
• CVOR work setting experience

Responsibilities

• Operate in a multi-service OR with 15 suites, including one hybrid OR
• Support 3 CT surgeons and 5 vascular surgeons
• Circulate across core service lines with general OR proficiency
• Day shift 7:00 AM–7:30 PM, 3x12h
• On-call: four weekday shifts post-shift until 7 AM and four weekend shifts per month
• Floating may be requested based on facility needs
• Provide high-acuity surgical support across cardiac, thoracic, and vascular procedures
• Facility is a Level-II Trauma Center
• Locals accepted at base rate; no mix of travel/per diem at this facility
• RTO limited: ≤7 days total; no full weeks off; pre-offer approvals required

Requirements

• Active, unrestricted RN license, must be VA or compact
• BLS and ACLS certifications required, through American Heart Association (AHA)
• Minimum 2 years of OR experience required, within the last year
• Cardiothoracic, thoracic, and vascular surgical support experience preferred
• Scrubbing experience a plus but not required
• Epic charting experience required
• NIH and stroke education required
• Prior travel experience required
• CVOR work setting experience

Responsibilities

• Work in a multi-service Operating Room with 15 suites, including one hybrid OR
• Supports 3 cardiothoracic surgeons and 5 vascular surgeons
• Circulates across core service lines with general OR proficiency
• Day shift schedule, 3x12 hours, 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM
• On-call required for four weekday shifts (end of shift until 7 AM) and four weekend shifts (covering both day and night) per month
• Floating may be requested based on facility needs
• Epic EMR experience required
• Provide high-acuity surgical support across cardiac, thoracic, and vascular procedures
• Facility is a Level-II Trauma Center
• Locals accepted at the same base rate
• Candidates cannot work both travel and per diem contracts simultaneously at this facility
• Prior permanent employees must have a 6-month gap before returning as travelers
• RTO should be minimal, with no more than 7 days total and no full calendar weeks off during the assignment
• All RTO requests must be submitted upfront, with no additional requests approved after an offer is made
