Job summary

American Traveler is seeking an experienced Operating Room RN with Trauma Level II experience and 5+ years in the OR for a mid-shift role requiring call coverage.

The position works in the General OR with a 4x10 hour day pattern (10:30am–9:00pm or 10:30am–7:00pm), Monday through Friday, with call on weekdays, weekends, and holidays. You will use Epic, support multiple surgical specialties, and may assume charge nurse duties.

Qualifications

• Active TX RN license or compact license in-hand
• BLS certification
• ACLS/PALS preferred
• NIHSS
• Minimum 5 years OR nursing experience
• Trauma Level II experience
• Epic charting experience
• Charge nurse experience preferred
• Experience with neurology, orthopedics, general, urology, ENT, ophthalmology, robotics preferred
• Proficiency in conscious sedation monitoring, specimen handling, wound management, emergency response

Responsibilities

• Work in the General OR, including trauma cases
• 4x10 hour mid-shift schedule, 10:30am-9:00pm or 10:30am-7:00pm, Monday through Friday
• Weekday, weekend, and holiday call required
• Rotating day off may be included depending on shift option
• May include charge nurse duties
• Uses Epic charting system
• Perform circulating and/or scrub duties across a wide variety of surgical specialties including trauma, orthopedics, neurology, general surgery, and robotics
• Facility conducts an onsite drug screen upon arrival, including marijuana testing, with any positive result resulting in automatic cancellation
• Candidates must reside more than 110 miles from the facility; local candidates are not accepted
• Travel experience is highly preferred but not required
• Candidates must be available to complete required lab work within 72 hours of accepting an offer or provide a completion plan

• Experience with a broad range of surgical specialties including neurology, orthopedics, general surgery, urology, ENT, ophthalmology, and robotics preferred
• Proficiency in skills such as conscious sedation monitoring, specimen handling, wound management, and emergency response procedures
• Experience with surgical equipment including electrosurgical units, robotics (Da Vinci Xi, Mako), and Hana Table preferred
