Job summary

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN - Operating Room with a minimum of 5 years of OR experience and an active NC or compact RN license for a Level 3 Trauma hospital setting.

The role involves 12-hour day shifts, weekend rotations, and call duties with a fast-paced, multi-specialty OR environment. Epic EMR is used for documentation, and extensive orientation is provided for travelers.

Qualifications

• Active NC or compact RN license
• BLS certification required
• CNOR certification preferred but not required
• Minimum 5 years of OR nursing experience required
• Experience circulating in multiple surgical specialties
• Minimum 12 months of core OR experience within the last year
• At least 1 professional reference dated within the past year
• Last 4 digits of SSN and full date of birth required

Responsibilities

• Work in a 19-suite Operating Room (17 rooms blocked) averaging 50 cases per day
• Surgical specialties include Trauma, Ortho Trauma, Ortho Total Joints, Spine, Hearts, MI Vascular, GYN, GYN-Oncology, Robotics, General, HPB, Bariatrics, Urology, ENT, Eyes, Pain, and Plastics
• 12-hour day shifts (7a-7p), 36 hours per week, with possible shift variations
• Weekend rotation every 4th weekend, which may include scheduled shifts or call coverage
• Call required averaging 6 shifts per 6-week schedule with a 45-minute response time
• Uses Epic EMR
• Facility is a Level 3 Trauma Center and designated Stroke, Bariatric, and Chest Pain Center of Excellence
• Unit holds Advanced Spine Surgery Certification

• Last 4 digits of SSN and full date of birth required for consideration

• Orientation includes facility-wide NEO plus 2 days of departmental orientation
• Travelers expected to work 75% of holidays
• Scrubs provided and free parking available
• First-time travelers will not be accepted for this role
• Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible
• Previous employees must be separated from any AHSE facility for at least 1 year after a permanent position before being eligible to return
• RTO requires manager approval
