Job summary

American Traveler is seeking an experienced Operating Room RN with cardiovascular and general surgery proficiency for a Level IV trauma teaching hospital in West Virginia. You will join a travel team dedicated to delivering high-quality patient care.

Requirements include an active WV/Compact RN license and BLS, with a minimum of 2 years RN experience and 1 year in specialty. Must be proficient in circulating and scrub roles, vein harvesting, and arterial techniques.

Qualifications

• Active WV or Compact RN license required.
• BLS certification required.
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience and 1 year of in-specialty experience.
• Must have cardiovascular and general surgery experience.
• Proficiency in circulating and scrub roles.
• Proficiency in vein harvesting and radial artery harvesting.
• Proficient in vascular, orthopedic, general, ENT, urology, robotics, and GYN surgical procedures.
• Minimum 2 Manager or Charge Nurse references from past 2 years.
• Flu vaccine required during flu season (Oct 1–Mar 31) unless exempt.
• First-time travelers accepted if experience requirements are met.

Responsibilities

• Operating Room setting with an average daily census of 22 cases.
• Evening shift schedule of 4x10 hours (2:30 PM-11:00 PM).
• Every other weekend work required.
• On-call 1 day per week plus 1–2 weekends per 4–5 week schedule with 30-minute response time.
• Overnight call shifts (7p-7a) usually covered by staff unless call-ins occur.
• Charting system is Cerner.
• Facility is a Level IV Trauma Center and teaching hospital, member of COTH.
• Scrub color requirement is royal blue, white, or both.
• Residence requirement: reside more than 100 miles from facility; 75–99 miles considered case-by-case.
• Former CAMC permanent employees must wait 2 years to return as traveler.
• Current Vandalia Health System employees are not eligible for travel contracts within the system.
• Orientation held every other Thursday.
• Non-billable training modules required before start (2–6 hours).
• Free parking provided for travelers.
• Holiday RTO limited to 1 of the 3 major holidays.

• Candidates must reside more than 100 miles from the facility, with 75-99 miles considered on a case-by-case basis at the same pay rate
• Former CAMC permanent employees must wait 2 years after their last day worked before returning as a traveler
• Current employees of the Vandalia Health System (including CAMC, Mon Health, Davis Medical Center, Broaddus Hospital, Webster Memorial Hospital, Grafton City Hospital, Highland-Clarksburg Hospital, and Minnie Hamilton Health System) are not eligible for travel contracts within the system
• Orientation held every other Thursday
• Non-billable training modules required prior to start, averaging 2-6 hours to complete
• Free parking provided for travelers
• Holiday RTO requests limited to no more than 1 of the 3 major holidays
