Job summary

American Traveler is hiring an RN for an Operating Room position at a Level II Trauma Center requiring CT/Compact RN license and prior Level I or Level II trauma experience. The role involves perioperative care across vascular, gynecology, plastics, neurology, trauma, orthopedic, urology, ENT, thoracic, bariatric, and robotic surgery.

Evening shift 3:00 PM–11:30 PM with weekend rotation and call. Must have Epic charting experience, bonus travel assignments, and free Yale New Haven Health System

Qualifications

• Active CT or Compact RN license required prior to start
• Current BLS certification required
• Minimum 3 years of OR experience required, 5 years preferred
• Minimum 2 years of experience within specialty required; 1.5 years for Level I trauma or travel experience
• Trauma experience required, including Level I and Level II trauma
• Minimum of 3 prior travel assignments in Level I trauma or high trauma settings required
• Epic charting experience required
• Teaching hospital and community hospital experience preferred
• Charge experience preferred

Responsibilities

• Work in the Operating Room of a short term acute care hospital with 426 staffed beds
• Level II Trauma Center
• Uses Epic charting system
• Evening shift schedule: 5x8 hours, 3:00 PM to 11:30 PM
• Weekend rotation required as needed
• Call required
• Provide perioperative nursing care across a wide range of surgical specialties including vascular, gynecology, plastics, neurology, trauma, orthopedic, urology, ENT, thoracic, bariatric, and robotic surgery
• DaVinci Xi robotic surgical system experience utilized
• Free parking available as part of the Yale New Haven Health System
• Flu vaccine required with no declinations accepted
• COVID vaccine and booster required with religious or medical exemptions only
• Must reside outside a 75-mile radius of the facility to be eligible, as local candidates are not accepted
• Former staff members must have been separated from the facility for at least 2 years to be eligible to return as a traveler
• Up to 7 days of RTO may be auto-approved
• One reference required for consideration
