Job summary

American Traveler is seeking an experienced Operating Room RN with a strong orthopedic background for a surgical center role requiring prior travel and Level I trauma exposure.

The position features a 4x10 hour day schedule (7:00 AM–5:30 PM) with a 1:1 patient ratio and no weekend or on-call duties. Epic charting is used, and travel nursing experience is essential.

Qualifications

• Active CT or Compact RN license is required.
• BLS certification is required.
• Minimum 2 years of OR nursing experience is required (1.5 years with Level I trauma or travel experience).
• Prior travel nursing experience is required.
• Strong orthopedic surgical background is required.
• Trauma Level I and/or Level II experience preferred.
• Teaching hospital and community hospital experience preferred.
• Epic charting experience preferred.
• 1 professional reference is required.

Responsibilities

• Work in an Ambulatory OR/General OR setting at an orthopedic surgical center.
• Patient ratio of 1:1.
• Day shift schedule of 4x10 hours (7:00 AM-5:30 PM).
• Must remain until the end of a case if it runs past scheduled shift end time.
• No weekend requirements.
• No on-call requirements.
• Block scheduling not accommodated.
• Epic charting system used.
• Provide perioperative nursing care across a range of orthopedic, general, vascular, and specialty surgical procedures.
• Facility is a Short Term Acute Care, Level I Trauma Center with 1,567 staffed beds.
• Scrubs provided in misty green.
• Parking available for a monthly fee.
• RTO requests greater than 7 days require additional approval.
• First-time travelers will not be considered for this position.
• Returning staff must have been separated from the facility for at least 2 years to be eligible as a traveler.
• Local candidates within 75 miles of the facility are not accepted.
• Flu vaccine required with no declinations accepted.
• COVID vaccine and booster required, with religious or medical exemptions only.
• Travelers may be required to participate in natural disaster or emergency response activities.
