Job summary

American Traveler is hiring an experienced Operating Room RN with Level I trauma experience for a Level I trauma center in Pennsylvania. The role requires active RN licensure (PA or compact) and BLS, with TNCC preferred, and involves 14 operating rooms, 4x10 day shifts, and optional travel assignments.

The candidate will support General, Neuro, Orthopedic, Vascular, and Transplant surgeries, manage high-acuity cases, and participate in on-call rotations.

Qualifications

• Active RN license (PA or compact) required.
• BLS certification required; TNCC preferred.
• Minimum 2 years of Operating Room experience required.
• Level I trauma experience required.
• Strong General OR experience required.
• Total joint experience required.
• Neuro, transplant, vascular, and general surgery experience required.
• Experience with high-acuity and trauma surgical cases required.
• Previous charge experience required.
• Prior travel RN experience required.
• 2 valid professional references from a supervisor within the past 2 years required.
• Copies of certifications required.

Responsibilities

• Work in a 14-room Operating Room supporting a Level I trauma center.
• Serves adult and geriatric surgical patients.
• Supports General OR, Neuro, Orthopedic, Vascular, and Transplant procedures.
• Common procedures include appendectomy, cholecystectomy, colon resection, hernia repair, laparoscopic surgery, thyroidectomy, and Whipple procedures.
• Neuro cases include spinal fusion, cervical and lumbar procedures, craniotomy, and laminectomy/discectomy.
• Orthopedic cases include total hip and total knee replacements, fracture procedures, and spine cases.
• Vascular cases include carotid procedures, AV fistula repair, femoral-popliteal bypass, and abdominal aortic aneurysm repair.
• 1:1 patient ratio
• Day shift schedule, 4x10 hours, 6:45am-7:15pm
• Floating required based on facility needs
• On-call required, approximately 6 weekday and 2 weekend call shifts
• No regular weekend shift requirement, though weekend call is required
• Uses EPIC charting system
• Provide perioperative nursing care across General OR, Neuro, Orthopedic, Vascular, and Transplant specialties
• Facility is part of Jefferson Health
• Scrubs provided by the facility
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Local candidates accepted with a local rate differential
• Must reside within 50 miles for local candidate consideration
• PA fingerprinting required and may involve travel; must be completed within 1 week of contract signing
• Labs must be completed within 48 hours of signing
