American Traveler is seeking an RN for a Neuro ICU assignment in Virginia. The nurse will care for a 16-bed unit with a 1:2 patient ratio, handling stroke and complex neuro/medical cases, while managing vasoactive drips and monitoring resources.

Shift is night 7PM–7AM with weekend work and local candidates within 50 miles eligible for a reduced rate. Requirements include an active VA or compact RN license, BLS/ACLS, and 2 years ICU experience.

American Traveler is hiring an RN for a Neuro ICU position requiring 2 years of critical care experience and VA or compact RN licensure.

Requirements

• Active VA or compact RN license required
• BLS and ACLS certifications required
• Minimum 2 years of ICU experience required (cardiac experience not required)
• Must pass an ECG exam on day 2 of assignment (pass/fail)

Responsibilities

• 16-bed Neuro ICU with a 1:2 patient ratio
• Patient population includes stroke, ICH, SAH, SDH, brain tumors, increased ICP, hydrocephalus, acute respiratory failure, sepsis, ARDS, COPD/asthma exacerbation, acute heart failure, AKI, DKA, HHS, GI bleeding, acute liver failure, and severe electrolyte abnormalities
• Titrates drips including Norepinephrine, Epinephrine, Vasopressin, Phenylephrine, and Dopamine
• Two clinical techs support the unit for 16 patients
• RT equipment includes mechanical ventilators, HFNC, and noninvasive ventilation (BiPAP/CPAP)
• No tele/monitor techs on the unit; RNs read their own telemetry strips using Phillips monitors
• Night shift schedule, 7PM-7AM
• Works every other weekend
• No on-call requirements
• Floating required to MSICU, PCCU, and boarder patients on the unit
• Epic EMR experience required
• Provide critical care nursing to a complex neuro and medical ICU patient population
• Navy blue scrubs required
• Holiday coverage required for 1 major and 1 minor holiday per year (Major: Christmas Eve/Christmas Day, New Year's Eve/New Year's Day, Thanksgiving Day/day after; Minor: Labor Day, 4th of July, Memorial Day)
• Local candidates accepted within a 50-mile radius at a reduced rate
• Former permanent employees may return 12 months after their last shift worked
