American Traveler, LLC. is seeking a Registered Nurse for a Neuro ICU assignment in Dallas, TX. You must hold a TX or compact RN license and bring Level I trauma and teaching hospital experience to this role in a high-acuity setting.

The position requires 2+ years of recent ICU experience, travel nursing background, and proficiency with Epic EMR, IV therapy, and complex monitoring (CVA/stroke, ventilators, arterial lines). Night shifts with 1:2 care are standard.

Qualifications

• Active TX or compact RN license required.
• Minimum 2 years of recent RN experience in mixed acuity ICU/PCU/Med-Surg.
• Prior travel nursing experience required.
• Teaching hospital and Level I trauma center experience required.
• Epic charting system experience required.
• Required ACLS, BLS, NIHSS certifications.
• Strong in IV therapy and line management.
• Ventilator management and arterial line care essential.

Responsibilities

• Work in a Neuro ICU within a Level I trauma, teaching hospital.
• Cover mixed acuity ICU/PCU/Med-Surg patient populations.
• Maintain 1:2 patient ratio.
• Night shift: 19:00–07:30, 3x12-hour shifts.
• Weekend, floating, and holiday coverage may be required.
• Provide critical care nursing for neuro trauma patients.
• Local candidates within 90 miles may be accepted at lower rate.
• RTO limited to 5 non-consecutive days; one holiday RTO in Nov–Jan.

Job description

American Traveler is hiring a Registered Nurse for a Neuro ICU position requiring Level I trauma and teaching hospital experience plus a TX or compact RN license.

Requirements

• Active TX or compact RN license required
• Minimum 2 years of recent RN experience, mixed acuity ICU/PCU/Med-Surg preferred
• Prior travel nursing experience required
• Teaching hospital and Level I trauma center experience required
• Epic charting system experience required
• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS
• TNCC preferred
• AHA certification preferred; military certifications accepted; ARC not accepted
• Skilled in IV therapy, central/PICC/arterial line management, blood product administration, and port access/management
• Experienced in ventilator management, BiPAP/CPAP, HFNC, ABG interpretation, and chest tube assistance
• Skilled in CRRT/CVVHD and renal failure management
• Proficient with continuous IV sedation, paralytics, vasoactive and cardiac drip titration, and emergency medications
• Experienced in CVA/stroke management, EVD, ICP monitoring, lumbar drains, TBI, spinal cord injury, and post-neurosurgical care
• Skilled in dysrhythmia interpretation and management, 12-lead EKG/ECG, and FloTrac/Vigileo monitoring
• Experienced with IV insulin protocols, isolation precautions/PPE, and phlebotomy
• Skilled in sheath removal and hypothermia protocol/Arctic Sun management
• State-issued ID, SSN, and DOB required for consideration

Responsibilities

• Work in a Neuro Intensive Care Unit within a Level I trauma, teaching hospital setting
• Mixed acuity unit covering ICU/PCU/Med-Surg patient populations, including all trauma and neuro trauma patients
• Patient ratio of 1:2
• Night shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts from 19:00 to 7:30
• Weekends, floating, and holiday coverage may be required
• Epic EMR experience required
• Provide critical care nursing to a mixed acuity neuro trauma ICU population
• Candidates residing within 90 miles are considered local and accepted at a lower bill rate
• RTO limited to 5 non-consecutive days, with only one holiday RTO request permitted during Nov-Jan
• All RTO must be approved by management prior to contract signing
