Floating between Oak Lawn and Park Ridge campuses, the role features a 1:2 RN:patient ratio, no on-call requirements, EPIC EMR documentation, and a neonatology‑supported environment for critical neonatal care.

Qualifications

• Active IL RN license required.
• BLS and NRP certifications required.
• Minimum 1.5 years NICU experience required.
• Experience with SERVO and HFOV ventilators, iNO therapy.
• Umbilical/arterial lines and drip management required.
• NG, G-tube, and enteral feeding proficiency required.
• EPIC EMR experience required.
• At least one professional reference within the last year.
• Candidate DOB and last 4 of SSN required.

Responsibilities

• Level III NICU within a Level 1 Trauma, Magnet teaching hospital.
• 54-bed unit caring for premature infants and unstable newborns.
• RN to patient ratio 1:2 with no CNAs on the unit.
• 12-hour night shifts (1900-0730), three shifts per week.
• Weekend rotation every third weekend.
• Floating between Oak Lawn and Park Ridge campuses to NICU assignments.
• Charts in EPIC with Pyxis, Alaris, and Phillips monitors.
• 24/7 support from RT and neonatology with a floating charge nurse.
• Provide specialized care to premature and critically ill neonates.

American Traveler is hiring an experienced NICU RN for a 12-hour night shift float pool position at a Level III NICU requiring at least 1.5 years of specialty experience.

Requirements

• Active IL RN license required
• BLS and NRP certifications required
• Minimum 1.5 years of recent NICU experience required
• Skilled in SERVO and HFOV ventilators, trach and chest tube care, and inhaled nitric oxide (iNO) therapy
• Experience with umbilical and arterial lines and drip management required
• Proficiency with NG, G-tube, and enteral feeding required
• EPIC EMR experience required
• At least one professional reference dated within the last year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN
• Candidate DOB and last 4 of SSN required for consideration

Responsibilities

• Level III NICU within a Level 1 Trauma, Magnet-designated teaching hospital
• 54-bed unit caring for premature infants and unstable newborns requiring medical or surgical care
• RN to patient ratio of 1:2 with no CNAs on the unit
• 12-hour night shifts (1900-0730), three shifts per week
• Weekend rotation required every third weekend
• No on-call requirements
• Floating required between Oak Lawn and Park Ridge campuses to NICU-appropriate assignments, including the pediatric inpatient unit or other system NICUs when applicable
• Charts in EPIC with Pyxis, Alaris, and Phillips monitors used on the unit
• 24/7 support from RT and neonatology, with a free-floating charge nurse
• Provide specialized care to premature and critically ill neonates in a high-acuity NICU setting
• One shift of unit orientation provided alongside another RN
• Scrubs provided on-site for infection control purposes
• Each patient assigned an individual stethoscope for infection prevention
• Free parking available
• Holiday coverage required as needed
• Time off requests must be approved through the manager
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Local candidates accepted at the same pay rate with no radius restrictions
• Former Advocate Health employees must be separated for at least 12 months before becoming eligible for a travel assignment
