Job summary

American Traveler is seeking an experienced NICU RN for a 13-week travel assignment at a community hospital. The ideal candidate has 18 months of NICU experience, an IN license (or Compact), and current NRP certification.

Responsibilities include care of neonates across gestational ages, 1:3 patient ratio, and day shift coverage with occasional holidays. Cerner charting and high-acuity care are required.

Qualifications

• Active RN license in Indiana or Compact state prior to start.
• Minimum 1.5 years NICU experience.
• BLS and NRP certification; STABLE preferred.
• Community hospital experience; teaching hospital preferred.
• Cerner charting experience.
• Ventilator management and advanced respiratory support.
• Graduate from an ACEN or CCNE accredited nursing program.
• Two supervisor references.
• SSN and DOB required.

Responsibilities

• NICU III/IV setting caring for neonates from <24-28 weeks to >34 weeks gestation.
• 1:3 patient ratio.
• Day shift, 4x12-hour shifts (6:00 AM-6:00 PM).
• Every other weekend required.
• Floating within scope of practice; within hospital or to nearby affiliate hospitals.
• Uses Cerner charting system.
• Also cares for Mother/Baby and Pediatrics patients.
• Attend high-risk deliveries and neonatal dosage calculations.
• Develop developmental care and patient/family teaching.
• Cares for respiratory, cardiovascular, GI, endocrine/metabolic, neurologic and infectious disease needs of neonates.
• Must work 2 of 3 major holidays.
• Up to 5 days non-holiday RTO can be auto-approved.
• First-time travelers welcome; local Indiana residents not accepted.
• IU Health travel rules apply.
• Current or past IU Health travelers with 12 months of travel experience must take breaks per policy.

• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Local candidates residing in Indiana are not accepted for this position
• Former IU Health perm or PRN employees must wait 12 months before applying as a traveler
• Current or past IU Health travelers with 12 months of accrued travel employment must take a consecutive break to reset eligibility (90 days for out-of-state residents, 180 days for in-state residents)
