Job summary

American Traveler is seeking an experienced NICU RN for a Level 4 acute care unit in Phoenix. The role requires at least 2 years of Level 4 NICU experience and a minimum of 3 years RN experience.

The position features 12-hour day shifts (7a-7p), weekend coverage, and potential charge nurse duties. NICU responsibilities include care for high-acuity neonates with 24/7 in-house specialists and broad monitoring capabilities.

Qualifications

• Active AZ or Compact RN license required.
• BLS and NRP certification required; Cardiac STABLE certification a plus.
• Minimum 3 years of RN experience required.
• At least 2 years of Level 4 NICU experience required (busy Level 3 experience also acceptable).
• Previous travel experience preferred.
• Day 1 SIMs Lab competency check for sterile technique, including Foley catheter insertion required.
• Two professional references with dates and eligibility required.
• Copy of driver’s license required.

Responsibilities

• Level 4 NICU with 71 beds, including 17 stepdown beds and 4 private rooms.
• Patient ratios of 1:2 in ICU and 1:3 in Level 2.
• Charge nurse role available with no patient assignment; high-risk RN resource.
• 1 PCT per shift supports nursing staff.
• Cerner EMR used for charting.
• 12-hour day shifts, 7a-7p.
• 4 weekend shifts per 4-week schedule.
• Holiday coverage based on unit needs.
• Floating to Mother Baby and L&D (babies only) may be required.
• Neonatologist and midlevel providers in house 24/7, RT coverage 24/7 and NICU pharmacy day-time.
• RT manages ventilators; Philips telemetry equipment used.
• 2-3 days of floor orientation provided.
• Care for premature infants and patients with cardiac defects, genetic disorders, surgical needs, ECMO, and cooling therapy.
• Navy scrub color required.

• Minimum 3 years of RN experience required
• At least 2 years of Level 4 NICU experience required (busy Level 3 experience considered)
• Previous travel experience preferred
• Must pass a Day 1 SIMs Lab competency check for sterile technique, including Foley catheter insertion
• Two professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years, including employment dates and rehire eligibility
• Copy of driver's license required for consideration

• Must reside at least 50 miles from the facility, as verified by driver's license
