Job summary

American Traveler is hiring a Registered Nurse for a Level IV NICU at a Children’s Hospital. Requires 2+ years NICU experience and TX or compact RN license. Night shifts 7:00 PM–7:00 AM, 3x12 hours, patient ratios 1:2-4, weekends include 6 shifts in 6 weeks, block scheduling, floating between units, no on-call.

Qualifications

• Active TX or compact RN license required in hand at time of submission.
• BLS certification required.
• NRP Advanced certification required.
• Minimum 2 years of NICU experience.
• Epic charting experience required.
• Proficiency in neonatal skills including IV therapy, arterial and central line management, UAC/UVC care, and neonatal medications.

Responsibilities

• Level IV NICU at a Children's Hospital / Level II Pediatric Trauma Center.
• Night shift, 3x12 hours (7:00 PM - 7:00 AM).
• Patient ratios of 1:2-4.
• Weekend requirement of 6 shifts within a 6-week period on a variable, self-scheduling basis.
• Block scheduling required.
• Floating between units required.
• No on-call responsibilities.
• Epic EMR used.
• Provide comprehensive neonatal intensive care to patients from extremely premature (<24-28 weeks) to >34 weeks gestation.
• Perform developmental care, patient/family teaching, and support for breastfeeding and NICU-specific feeding methods.
• Manage complex respiratory support including CPAP, HFNC, and ventilator care, as well as cardiovascular and infectious disease monitoring.
• Assist with procedures such as lumbar punctures, ICP monitoring, and VP shunt management.
• Scrub color: Navy for RNs.
• Must commit to working 3 of the 5 major holidays.
• Local candidates accepted at a lower bill rate.
• Candidates must live at least 50 miles from the facility to qualify for travel rate.
• Former permanent staff may return as travelers after a 3-month waiting period, outside 50-mile radius.

American Traveler is hiring a Registered Nurse for a Level IV NICU position requiring 2+ years of NICU experience and a TX or compact RN license.

Requirements

• Active TX or compact RN license required in hand at time of submission
• BLS certification required
• NRP Advanced certification required
• Minimum 2 years of NICU experience required
• Level III NICU experience preferred given the unit is Level IV
• Epic charting experience required
• Proficiency required in neonatal skills including IV therapy, arterial and central line management, UAC/UVC care, and administration of emergency medications
• Experience with ventilator management, high frequency ventilation, and oscillators required
• Experience with therapeutic hypothermia, phototherapy, and neonatal abstinence syndrome care preferred
• Two supervisory references covering 1 year of employment within the last 3 years required
