Job summary

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Mother Baby/Labor & Delivery position in Washington. A WA or compact RN license is required, with LDRP experience essential. You will attend deliveries and circulate for C-sections in a high-volume Birthing Center.

Expect 12-hour day shifts with every other weekend, support from a 24/7 OB/GYN hospitalist and NNP team, and EPIC/Centricity-Perinatal charting. Travel benefits, competitive pay, and housing assistance are included.

Qualifications

• Active WA or compact RN license required
• Current BLS and NRP certifications required
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience
• LDRP experience required
• Comfort attending deliveries and circulating in C-sections independently
• Comfort assisting with catching and transitioning newborns
• Titrate drips including Magnesium, Pitocin, and Insulin
• Competent in routine mom and baby care for Postpartum coverage
• Two professional references with dates and rehiring eligibility

Responsibilities

• Work in the Birthing Center - Mother Baby unit, an acute care L&D setting
• Unit has 13 L&D beds, 2 OR suites for C-sections, 2 triage beds, and 14 postpartum beds
• Handle 32 weeks gestation and above, high-risk cases
• Follow AWHONN staffing ratios of 1:2 for L&D and 1:3-4 for couplets
• Use EPIC EMR and Centricity-Perinatal for EFM
• 12-hour Day shifts with every other weekend
• Standby call with 45-minute response time
• Floating limited to Mother Baby and Postpartum within the same unit
• One surgical tech assigned 24/7 and a patient care assistant on each shift
• 24/7 in-house OB/GYN hospitalist and NNP support, plus 24/7 OB anesthesia provider
• RT support for vents, CPAP, BiPAP
• Tele/monitor techs available for PACU monitoring after C-sections
• Provide direct patient care in high-volume Birthing Center
• Scrubs and a locker provided
• Unit orientation includes EPIC class and unit-specific orientation
• Holiday coverage rotates with permanent staff scheduling
• Block scheduling possible in contract
• No first-time travelers considered for this position
• Candidates must be adaptable to unit workflows and policies

• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
• LDRP experience required
• Must be comfortable attending deliveries and circulating in C-sections independently
• Must be comfortable assisting with catching and transitioning newborns
• Must be able to titrate drips including Magnesium, Pitocin, and Insulin
• Must be competent in routine mom and baby care for Postpartum coverage
• Two professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years, including employment dates and rehire eligibility

Responsibilities

• Work in the Birthing Center - Mother Baby unit, an acute care L&D setting
• 13 L&D beds, 2 OR suites for C-sections, 2 triage beds, and 14 postpartum beds
• Unit averages 170-190 births per month, with over 2,100 deliveries in 2025
• Patient population includes 32 weeks gestation and above, high risk, preeclampsia, diabetic, and psych/social/substance use cases
• Follows AWHONN staffing ratios of 1:2 for L&D and 1:3-4 for couplets
• EPIC EMR used for charting; EFM system is Centricity-Perinatal
• 12-hour Day shifts with every other weekend required (Saturday and Sunday)
• Standby call requirement with a 45-minute response time
• Floating limited to Mother Baby and Postpartum within the same unit; no floating to NICU or outside the department
• One surgical tech assigned 24/7 and a patient care assistant on each shift
• 24/7 in-house OB/GYN hospitalist and NNP support, plus 24/7 OB anesthesia provider
• RT support typically assigned to family birth for equipment such as vents, CPAP, and BiPAP
• Tele/monitor techs available for PACU monitoring after C-sections
• Provide direct patient care in a high-volume Birthing Center, including labor support, delivery assistance, and postpartum care
• Free charge nurse model on both shifts
• Scrubs and a locker are provided
• Unit orientation includes an 8-hour compliance day, an 8-hour EPIC class, and 2-3 shifts of unit-specific orientation
• Holiday coverage rotates in alignment with permanent staff scheduling
• Facility allows block scheduling when requested in contract
• No first-time travelers considered for this position
• Candidates must be open and adaptable to unit workflows, policies, and manager feedback
