American Traveler is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse for a Medical ICU assignment in Colorado. The role requires a CO or compact RN license, 2 years ICU experience, and current BLS/ACLS. EPIC charting experience is required.

Night shifts 3x12 hours with 1:2 patient ratio and potential cross-facility floating. The unit manages critically ill adults with pulmonary disease, septic shock, and multi‑organ failure, using ventilator support and continuous monitoring.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Care for 24-bed Medical Intensive Care Unit patients.
• Manage pulmonary diseases, septic shock, multi‑organ failure.
• Provide ventilator support and vasoactive medications.
• Perform invasive monitoring and post‑arrest temperature management.
• Maintain 1:2 patient ratio and 24-bed census.
• Night shift: 19:00–07:30, 3x12 hours, rotating days.
• Float within Metro Region facilities as needed.
• Adhere to Epic charting and isolation protocols.
• Navy blue scrubs; orientation within first week.

Job description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Medical ICU position requiring 2 years of ICU experience and a CO or compact RN license.

Requirements

• Active RN license (CO or compact) required
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications (AHA)
• Minimum 2 years of ICU experience required
• Academic medical center/teaching hospital experience preferred
• Epic charting experience required
• Skills needed include arterial line management, central line care, PICC line management, IV therapy, and blood product administration
• Respiratory skills needed include ventilator management, BiPAP/CPAP, ABG interpretation, suctioning, and high flow nasal cannula
• Experience with titration of cardiac and vasoactive drips, continuous IV sedation, and IV insulin protocols required
• Experience managing dysrhythmias and multisystem organ dysfunction/failure required
• Experience with isolation precautions/PPE and phlebotomy required

Responsibilities

• 24-bed Medical Intensive Care Unit caring for critically ill adult medical patients
• Patient conditions include pulmonary diseases, septic shock, multi-organ failure, GI bleeds, liver disease, acute respiratory failure, and drug overdose
• Common therapies include ventilator support, vasoactive medications, continuous renal replacement therapy, invasive hemodynamic monitoring, and post-arrest targeted temperature management
• 1:2 patient ratio
• Average daily census of 23 with 24 total beds
• Night shift, 3x12 hours (19:00-7:30), various days of the week
• 6 weekend shifts required within a 6-week schedule
• No call requirements
• Floating required within scope to sister facilities in the Metro Region based on facility needs
• Epic charting system used
• Provide high-acuity critical care nursing within a collaborative multidisciplinary team
• Navy blue scrub color required
• First-time travelers welcome if minimum experience requirements are met and comfortable in a high-acuity environment
• Must complete all facility-specific orientation modules within the first week of assignment
• Maximum of 10 RTO days approved per 13-week contract, with blackout periods during select weeks
• No blocked scheduling requests permitted
• Candidates previously employed by the health system or its affiliates may be subject to eligibility restrictions
